On April 13, alumni and friends gathered in Low Rotunda for the 2026 Columbia College Women Signature Event. Ursula M. Burns SEAS’82 joined Columbia Trustees chair emerita Lisa Carnoy CC’89 in a conversation titled The Art of Disruption: Women at the Frontlines of Change.

Burns discussed her remarkable 38-year journey at Xerox, where she climbed the ranks from intern to the C-Suite. Through this inspiring conversation, guests heard stories about navigating leadership amidst unpredictability, finding pathways to career reinvention at all stages of your journey, breaking down barriers and cracking corporate ceilings.

With opening and closing receptions, there was plenty of time for networking and meaningful connection. If you missed this event, there are many more planned in the year ahead. Find other ways to connect with CCW here: https://bit.ly/4tlicFV

Do you have neck or back pain? Dr. Erich Anderer CC’97, VPS’03, chief of neurosurgery at NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, does not believe that surgery is the right solution for most spinal conditions. Instead, Anderer says the solution may be found on a yoga mat. Along with Eddie Stern, a bestselling author and the owner of Broome Street Yoga, join fellow alumni for a fascinating conversation about the intersection of yoga, brain health and spine care, along with an optional portion in which you can participate in gentle movement. 📖 What is a chapter, where did chapters start and what does a chapter do? This combination talk and workshop by Professor Nicholas Dames will try to answer those questions and, in the process, provide a capsule history of how books have been divided for the last 2,000 years. We will also explore how the chapter has captured, and also perhaps defined, the ways in which we think about the shape of our own lives. We’ll look at texts from the Bible to the novels from the last 200 years, and even perhaps a tidbit from a film or two. 📘 Register here: https://bit.ly/4loKJqM
