CASA provides one-on-one advocacy to help children and youth in New York City foster care grow up in safe, permanent and loving homes where they can thrive.

CASA-NYC plays a crucial role in assisting New York’s overburdened Family Court system meet the needs of the city’s most vulnerable population. For many abused children, a dedicated CASA-NYC advocate may be the one constant presence in their lives—perhaps even the only adult who cares for them.

We’re ready to welcome the CASA-NYC community for our 9th Annual Fall Luncheon on Tuesday, October 20th at 11:30 AM at the Metropolitan Club.

This year, we’re honoring Abigail Pall Weinshank as our 2026 Impact Advocate Honoree. Her service has made an impact across CASA-NYC, where she has served as a volunteer Advocate for children and families for nearly a decade, helped train new advocates, co-chaired fundraising events, and tirelessly supported our community in so many other ways. CASA-NYC is all the better for her service, so join us in celebrating Abigail!

We’re also thrilled to have the iconic June Ambrose – award-winning creative director, costume designer, and entrepreneur – as our dynamic emcee.

Visit casa-nyc.org/news/2026-fall-luncheon to join us for an exciting afternoon dedicated to celebrating the power of community, the resilience of the children and families we serve, and the CASA volunteers who make our impact possible.

CASA-NYC is a newly independent organization since separating from our fiscal sponsor in 2025.✨

That transition is strengthening the organization and positioning us for growth.

Already this year we have advocated for more than 700 youth, piloted a prevention program, and added 52 new volunteers.

Every transition comes with unexpected challenges, however. As we approach the end of our fiscal year, we need to fill a budget gap caused by one of our state contracts being rescinded. To help close this gap, our Board of Directors has pledged $100,000 as a special matching gift challenge through September 30th.

Will you consider making a one-time special donation to support youth and families affected by foster care? Any gift you make before the end of the fiscal year will be DOUBLED by our Board.

Donate today at our link in bio or by emailing us at [email protected].

Thank you as always for supporting CASA-NYC.💙

It was wonderful to see so many of our advocates at this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Event! 🫶

We love getting together to celebrate the dedication and care our volunteers and community partners bring to CASA-NYC every day.

While we can only spotlight a handful of photographs and individuals from the night, we are profoundly grateful to every CASA who dedicates their time and energy to supporting children and families across New York City! 💙

A special thank you to Apogem Capital for generously providing gift bags for this year’s event! We are deeply grateful for the thoughtfulness and care that the Apogem team dedicated to assembling these gifts for CASA-NYC volunteers. Thank you to Megan and Katrina for coordinating this partnership, to Otto and Gabe for joining us at the event, and to every Apogem team member who helped assemble these gift bags, which helped us express our appreciation for our volunteers and the incredible work they do!!

This month, we’re recognizing the 300+ CASA-NYC volunteer advocates who show up consistently, thoughtfully, often behind the scenes, for children and families navigating the child welfare system.

They’re the ones reading case files late at night, attending school meetings and court hearings, checking in on older youth living independently for the first time, asking the extra question when something doesn’t add up. CASA volunteers build trust over time. They piece together the full picture. They make sure a child’s needs never get lost in the process.

Every CASA volunteer carries only 1-2 cases by design, so they can offer the kind of steady, individualized support this work requires. It’s careful, it’s thoughtful, and it makes a difference in the lives of more than 1,100 children and youth every year.

To all our volunteers, thank you for bringing your time and your hearts to this work. We celebrate you this month and always! 💙

CASA-NYC congratulates Rebecca Jones Gaston on her appointment as Commissioner of the NYC Administration for Children’s Services.

From CASA-NYC CEO Kerry Moles:

“We are hopeful that Commissioner Jones Gaston's lived and professional experience, demonstrated commitment to supporting families, and track record of reducing the number of children in foster care, will make her the right person to lead ACS at this pivotal time. In 2025, CASA-NYC was able to prevent the trauma of unnecessary family separation in 97% of cases appointed by judges with the goal of family preservation. We look forward to working with the new administration and parent, family, and child advocates to continue to strengthen support for NYC’s children, youth, and families.”
