Today, we’re looking back at the celebration of Greek Independence Day at the United Nations, where members of Hellenic Professional Women came together with the broader Hellenic community to honor our shared history, heritage, and identity.

Wellness Wednesday | Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Your health belongs on your calendar.

Between meetings, deadlines, family responsibilities, and everything else life demands, it’s easy to put ourselves last. But taking care of your health should never be an afterthought.

This week, HPW is reminding women to make themselves a priority.

💕 Talk with your healthcare provider about breast cancer screening that’s right for you.

As an organization committed to educating and empowering women, we believe that advocating for your health is just as important as advocating for your personal and professional growth.

Wellness Wednesday | Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, HPW is dedicating Wellness Wednesday to breast cancer awareness, education and action.

The numbers remind us why these conversations matter: 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and hundreds of thousands of women will receive a diagnosis this year.

As an organization committed to educating and empowering women, we believe knowledge is power—especially when it comes to our health.

Know your risk. Know your body. Talk with your healthcare provider about what screening is appropriate for you.

Throughout October, we’ll continue the conversation because empowering women also means empowering one another to prioritize our health.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We stand with those affected and encourage our community to prioritize awareness and early detection.

Membership Monday: Connection in D.C.

Last Saturday, we gathered for Gather. Connect. Empower.—D.C. Edition, an afternoon of conversation, connection, and community.

Thank you to our DC Ambassador for bringing everyone together, and to our guest speakers, Ioanna Gisone, Ph.D., and Anastasia Vlassopoulos of CPR Lifeline Academy, for sharing their insights and experiences. We’re also grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the gathering so special.

There are women who lead with purpose, lift others along the way, and leave a lasting impact on the communities they serve. Christina Tettonis is one of those women. 💙

HPW is thrilled to honor Christina at our Empower & Elevate Brunch on November 28.

We had the pleasure of spending time with Christina at Wednesday’s “Όλοι Μαζί” Luncheon, celebrating Hellenic leadership and community—and we’re looking forward to continuing that celebration in November.

For more than four decades, Christina has dedicated her career to education. As Executive Academic Officer and Co-Executive Leader of Hellenic Classical Charter Schools, she has helped shape HCCS into one of New York City’s leading charter school networks while remaining deeply committed to her Hellenic heritage and to empowering the next generation.

A proud HPW member, daughter of Greek immigrants, educator, leader, wife, mother—and now proud yiayia—Christina represents so much of what Empower & Elevate is all about.

We can’t wait to celebrate you, Christina! 🇬🇷✨
