We’re hiring!! The Asylum Support Clinic (ASC), a pro-se, volunteer-based clinic, is seeking a part-time, bilingual (Spanish/English) Coordinator to be part of the staff team in support of asylum seekers. The role is about 25 hours per week in a hybrid format—mostly remote, with in-person Tuesday evening clinic hours. Thanks to incredible community generosity, ASC submitted 21 work authorization applications on August 5. That’s 21 asylum seekers one step closer to being able to support themselves and their family members. The new $550 fee meant that it cost a total of $11,500 to submit those 21 applications. Thank you for playing a crucial role in making that happen!

In September and October, we will be submitting up to 26 new work authorization applications. That will mean $14,300 in additional fees. Please spread our fundraiser as widely as you can, so we can continue to serve people who face these harsh barriers to asylum and work authorization. We'd appreciate it deeply.

Help Offset Harsh New Asylum and Work Authorization Fees

The administration recently announced new fees for asylum and work authorization applications. It now costs $550 to apply for work authorization and $100 to file for asylum. Previously, it didn’t cost anything to apply. These fees will prevent many vulnerable individuals from having the chance at a safer, more secure future.

ASC intends to help cover these harsh new costs to the extent possible, including $11,500 in fees for the 21 work authorization applications we will be filing in early August.
