RDRC/NHS Partnership First Time Homebuyer Workshops

The scheduled "First Time Homebuyer Workshops" has been postponed until February 2020. The decision came after considering a logjam of events occurring in January, and a workshop of this importance will benefit from a less conflicted time in early February.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Announcements on the new dates and details will be released as soon as possible.

Happy Holidays! Join us this Friday, Dec., 6th for DFR's "13th Annual Lights Of Hope Tree Lighting Ceremony" , where the Plaza will be fresh, with holiday decorations, new plants, shrubs and mulch provided by the Horticultural Society of NY, caroling, friendly family entertainment, giftaways for the kids, and of course "Santa Clause."

Attend a Queens Arts Fund Grant Info Session in Far Rockaway on September 26! Grants fund Queens-based individual artists creating new works and nonprofit organizations offering arts and cultural programing that enrich the borough of Queens.
Last year, we funded over 180 different organizations and individual artists. This is the most we've ever funded through QAF!
Grants range from $1,000 - $5,000 for organizations and $3,000 for artists. These are project-based grants, so even non-arts organizations can apply. The deadline to apply is October 29, 2019.

Re-Cap: RDRC's CB-SYEP Younger Youth Civic Participation/Media Group

Chekwubechukwu Agwai, our RDRC's CB-SYEP Younger Youth participant from the Civic Participation and Media group, created this drawing for the final week presentation on August 14, 2019, at Peninsula Preparatory Academy for the Project-Based Learning workshops. He's a student that has been drawing for seven years. His inspiration for the drawing came from the printing of The Great Wave. He also thought about how much fun he had this summer at the beach and wanted to express that in his drawing about Civic Engagement Day in Far Rockaway — acknowledging that the beach is a big part of the Far Rockaway community and that youth should be involved in keeping it clean, safe and fun for everyone.

Re-Cap: DTFR 3rd Annual Caribbean Carnival

On Saturday, August 17th, Senator James Sanders, Jr. hosted the "3rd Annual Caribbean Carnival In The Rockaways" joined by RDRC's CEO/Prez Kevin Alexander, Council Member Donovan Richards, Senator Kevin Parker, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte and Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman. Festivities began with a Parade from B20th St, and Seagirt Blvd. with floats highlighting the authentic and unique Caribbean culture, DTFR businesses, community organizations, and ended at Bayswater Park, with an evening of Caribbean music, tasty Caribbean foods, with a host of vendors, and fun activities for the kids, and the entire family.
