And If You Lose Your Way, or A Food Odyssey What do you bring to the table? Thru June 28 Only @ The Invisible Dog. Learn more & buy tickets: www If we are what we eat, what are we?

What is America's food culture, and where is it heading? And ultimately, how does food connect us? In 'And If You Lose Your Way, or A Food Odyssey', a retelling of the story of Penelope and Odysseus takes us through their separation, time apart and reunion using food as the emotional bridge between them. The story begins in Ancient Greece and ends in 2014, and the events of The Odyssey become meta

phors for changes in the food industry, exploring our relationship to what we eat. As the play progresses, characters from the past and present intersect and as their food cultures collide, culminating in a feast shared by the actors and the audience.

Deadline is MONDAY for submissions from young artist-activists. JOHN'S CHILDREN is a civic engagement project in honor and continuation of the legacy of the late Congressman John Lewis.

This project couldn't feel more urgent or necessary. Please spread the word to the young (15-25) intrepid artists in your lives!

John’s Children is Geva's new civic arts initiative where we'll honor the legacy of civil rights icon John Robert Lewis by amplifying the voices of the next generation in our ongoing pursuit of freedom and justice. We are pairing up to 15 young adults, ages 15-25, with professional mentors in the arts to create a series of public service announcements promoting civic participation.

For complete details, including how young adults may apply, click here: https://mailchi.mp/gevatheatre/johns-children

Submission deadline is September 14. There is no cost to apply or participate.

A new rave review from New York Theater Review for And If You Lose Your Way, or A Food Odyssey!

"A visual, aural, and culinary feast. A bold and ambitious work."

"Yousefzadeh brilliantly employs the different facets of theatre, music, cooking, and even games to create a comprehensive and holistic feel to her multimedia piece. Feldman's text breaks the fourth wall, and flows into poetic songs and movement, allowing for the playful code-switching between ancient and contemporary eras."

The "current run at The Invisible Dog Art Center is way too short. Here's hoping that this...is just beginning of a long journey for New York audiences."

Experience the magic of the design team of And If You Lose Your Way, or A Food Odyssey!

"Scenic designer Carolyn Mraz, lighting designer Mike Inwood and sound designer Will Pickens creatively utilize the expansive space. Their contributions to this minimalist stylized spectacle very effectively renders the farm, thrilling battle scenes, a galley ship with watery sound effects, a Trojan horse, cooking areas and a television studio for a culinary show. Brooke Cohen’s artful costumes have a delightfully timeless rustic quality, adding to the visual splendor."

New York Theatre Review sits down with our director, Pirronne Yousefzadeh, for an interview about creating FOOD ODYSSEY:

"To me, breaking bread and going to the theatre are both acts that are about forging community. One's relationship to another person changes after eating with them, and the same is true after watching a play with an audience; we go through something together, and share an experience. And so, in conceiving Food Odyssey, my collaborators and I have always been seeking to make both the sharing of the story and the food acts of generosity to our audience."

The incomparable Nick Choksi plays a teaser song from And If You Lose Your Way, or A Food Odyssey!

That's right. Guerrilla shooting in a bar. What's more indie than that?

Lauren Rayner Productions is obsessed with this song and is so honored to share it (and was even more honored to film it with shaky hands apparently!):
