Talking Drum Theatre Arts

Talking Drum Theatre Arts STEP 1: Be PRESENT for young people
STEP 2: Listen to their DREAMS
STEP 3: Give them a PLATFORM

The TALKING DRUM Theatre Arts Program offers a creative arts medium to service inner-city youth ages through eighteen years of age within the five boroughs of New York City. The program offers year-round educational arts enrichment that addresses pervasive issues common to urban youth. Direct instructional services are provided to students, professionals, and parents through contracts with after-s

chool programs, community-based organizations, and school officials. TALKING DRUM teaching artists individualize the curriculum with program coordinators, teachers, guidance counselors, and additional staff, allowing for a customized program that is age and grade appropriate. Services provided are tailored to specific program goals and budgets. The program’s mission involves:

Providing an educational and enriching platform for young individuals to express themselves through creative arts, which includes dance, drama, art, music, & spoken word. Providing children with the tools of empowerment so they may achieve their full potential.

She’s BACK!!!
Panelist Celeste Bond.

Her name is Bond, Celeste Bond and she is a 22 year old African American woman from Harlem, NY. She graduated from the University at Albany with her BA and is now pursing her PhD at Lehigh University. Although she studies mathematics, she has spent most of her young life trying to impact the community around her. She was a member of the Young Women’s Advisory Council, which served as “youth experts” in the creation of creating NYC’s Young Women’s Initiative. This was an initiative to produce policy recommendations in order to address the unmet needs of young women and trans women of color, ages 12-23, in the education, health, criminal justice, and economic system. As a Christian woman, she now serves the Lord by encouraging, advising, and leading young women in their walk of faith.
