Asian American Women Media Makers is a professional working group founded by a group of entrepreneurial Asian American women filmmakers in the spring of 2012. to find ways to empower ourselves as content creators. Asian American Women Media Makers

Christine Choy passed away over the weekend. Oscar nominated filmmaker and former chair of the NYU film department, Christine was a force to be reckoned with—stubborn, loud, feisty, and fearless. She was a teacher, activist, and pioneer who paved the road for so many who came after her. We lost a giant in the world of documentary film.

*The Last of the Sea Women* on Apple TV+ is a beautiful and moving documentary that showcases the resilient lives of the Haenyeo, South Korea’s female divers. These extraordinary women dive deep into the ocean to harvest seafood without modern diving equipment, a practice passed down through generations. The film not only celebrates their strength and determination but also highlights the cultural significance of their work in a rapidly changing world. 🌊🌟
