For Marion, Wednesdays are just that! They are a chance to reconnect with familiar faces, hear new stories, and leave feeling a little lighter than before.

At Life Story Club, weekly storytelling groups bring older adults together to share experiences, build friendships, and find community. We’ve launced 153 clubs across all five boroughs of New York City, serving 2,500+ (and counting) older adults in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

The impact goes beyond the conversation. 62% of our members report feeling less lonely, and 90% say they feel a stronger sense of community through Life Story Club.

We’re proud to continue creating spaces where every story is heard, every voice is valued, and every week offers another reason to come together. Thank you to our members, facilitators, volunteers, and partners for making this work possible.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Today, we honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and in our communities today.

History is carried through stories, memories, and lived experiences passed from one generation to the next. Through sharing and listening, we preserve important histories, deepen understanding, and stay connected to one another.

This Juneteenth, we reflect on the stories that have shaped our communities and the importance of ensuring they continue to be shared and remembered.

Earlier this month, we welcomed spring with an afternoon full of stories, creativity, and connection! We partnered with NYU Net Impact to host a card writing event for older adults across the Life Story Club network. More than 25 volunteers joined us to write heartfelt notes, draw pictures, and share plenty of laughter along the way. It was a joyful reminder of how meaningful small moments of connection can be. We look forward to more events like this in the future!
