A powerhouse lineup takes the stage for International Jazz Day 2014 in Osaka, Japan. Nayo Jones (pronounced Nīyō) is a Chicago-born jazz vocalist and classically trained flutist who was raised in a musical family and developed her foundation in jazz under the guidance of her father, William “Doc” Jones. Now based in New Orleans, she is known for her dynamic vocal range and signature blend of jazz standards, soul, and contemporary influences. She leads her own group, The Nayo Jones Experience, while also touring as a featured vocalist with Kermit Ruffins and performing with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, including on their tribute to Allen Toussaint.

Jones has appeared at major festivals including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Fest, and Satchmo SummerFest, as well as international stages in Europe and across the United States. She has shared the stage with artists such as George Benson, Chris Botti, Rick Braun, and Richard Elliot, and maintains long-running residencies in New Orleans venues including the Hotel Monteleone and the Jazz Playhouse.

Show: 5 - 6 pm

This is a free performance with no ticketing. Seating is on a first come-first served basis.

On Saturday, June 27th, join the Jazz Foundation of America in Marshall, NC, for A Great Day in Marshall, a FREE, day-long celebration of music, community, and resilience. Starting at 1:30 PM, the festival will feature live performances across six downtown venues, and create 80 employment opportunities for Western North Carolina musicians.

As the region continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, this special event honors the strength and spirit of Marshall's music community while bringing people together for a full day of live music.

For the next three Saturdays, JFA is bringing world-class jazz to Brooklyn's Eubie Blake Theatre! Located inside the Herbert Von King Park Recreation Center, this intimate, recently renovated facility is the perfect place to enjoy the exciting Brooklyn-based vocalist Nikita White (June 6), the living legend George Braith (June 13), and the revered Steven Kroon Latin Jazz Sextet (June 20).

All shows start at 3pm, and are free and open to the public.
