Edna Lima is an internationally distinguished martial artist with over four decades of experience; her lifelong study and focus on Brazilian Capoeira and Japanese Karate has allowed Edna to promote her cultural roots and demonstrate the benefits of these martial arts. This dedication has led to her recognition as a Mestra in ABADÁ-Capoeira, the largest Capoeira organization in the world and has ea

rned her a Fifth-degree Blackbelt in the JKA World Federation. Lima has studied Sports Science for over 20 years, achieving a post-graduate degree in Physical Education and becoming an Adjunct Professor in Sports Science at Long Island University in NYC. Additionally, Edna has taught at CUNY/Hunter College, Rutgers University, and Sarah Lawrence University. In all of Edna’s classes and workshops, she actively promotes a healthy lifestyle, exercise, a sense of virtue, and the positive encouragement to reach one’s highest potential.

Summer Training 2020, Part 1, Day 1 ✅

We had the first in-person training since the lockdown started here in NYC in mid-March. It was also the first time we met up in 5 months. With face masks, gloves and social distancing, we had an amazing training session with Mestra Edna. It was so much fun! Tomorrow, we have more 💪

Only 10 days to go! Team ABADÁ-Capoeira New York with Mestra Edna Lima & Team USA are ready! See you all in Brazil 💪💪💪.
ONLY 10 DAYS to the World Games of ABADÁ-Capoeira! And will be there!
The Jogos Mundiais of ABADA-Capoeira is an international competition and encounter that hosts capoeiristas from around the globe; over 30 countries represented, hundreds of competitors and a full week of master workshops attended by students from all continents.
The Centro Educacional Mestre Bimba (CEMB) - ABADA’s eco-friendly farm in Cachoeiras de Macacu - and the city of Rio de Janeiro will be the stage for this unprecedented event.
As part of the celebrations, ABADÁ-Capoeira will recognize 14 new Mestrandos - the second to highest attainable rank in the ABADÁ system.

We are thrilled to see so many of our students traveling to Brazil to hone their skills, immerse themselves in Capoeira/Brazilian culture and be part of this experience with friendships they will make from around the world.

The world Journalisms lost one of the best! RIP my dear friend!

This documentary was made in the late 80’s. The interviewer, Paulo Henrique Amorin, was from São Paulo but living in New York City when this was recorded, working for the Globo TV. After the interview, Mestra Edna and Mr. Amorin became friends.

Mr. Amorin passed away yesterday in São Paulo.
