Last month, FWF Deputy Director Jarai Sabally joined survivors, activists, parliamentarians, and civil society leaders in Paris for the 10th Anniversary of the French Abolitionist Law, convened by CAP International - Coalition for the Abolition of Prostitution — a co-convener of our Gloria Steinem Equality Fund to End S*x Trafficking.
From April 12–14, survivors and advocates from around the world gathered to strengthen the global movement to end commercial s*xual exploitation and support survivors. The convening opened with a powerful survivor-led march through the streets of Paris, centering survivor voices and demanding dignity, safety, and justice.
We met with several of our grantee partners, including Maiti Nepal, SOLWODI Internationall ,@ Emargi, National Solidarity Against Exploitation of Women / Moongchi, and Foundation, who shared urgent realities from their countries: trafficking, s*xual tourism, the incarceration of women in prostitution, and the growing digitalization of exploitation. They also shared powerful examples of resistance through survivor-centered services, legal advocacy, and cross-border organizing.
At the French National Assembly, survivors, Members of Parliament, and activists reflected on 10 years of the Equality Model in France while examining abolitionist strategies across Europe and beyond.
Despite shrinking resources and growing pressures, our grantee partners continue to provide shelter, exit pathways, long-term care, and advocacy for survivors while advancing policy and cultural change in their communities.
From Paris to frontline communities worldwide, survivors are leading a coordinated global movement to end the s*x trade.
