On Wednesday, AAFE and our community partners hosted Chinese and Korean language workshops in Flushing to help community members understand recent federal policy changes impacting Medicaid and SNAP benefits. We were proud to stand with community advocates, State Sen. John Liu and Ron Kim for New York in Flushing to advocate for legislation that will make a big difference in the health of many people in the AAPI community. We urge Governor Kathy Hochull to sign legislation requiring insurance companies to cover diabetes screenings at a lower body mass index threshold. It’s a common sense proposal that will help save lives.

You deserve safe and well maintained housing! That’s why AAFE is hosting a workshop to help tenants understand their rights when repairs are needed. This Spanish-language workshop will take place in our Jackson Heights office Wednesday, August 19 at 6PM. Participants signing up by Tuesday at 9 AM will be eligible for one of 20 free food baskets!
