Dr. Naina Marballi

In 1977, Dr. Naina Marballi graduated from Podar Ayurvedic Center for Research at Mumbai University in Mumbai, India. Immediately upon earning her B.S.A.M., Bachelor of Shuddha Ayurvedic Medicine degree (classification: Ayurvedacharya) from India’s premier educational institution for Ayurveda, she began her career as an Ayurvedic Physician with Podar Center’s Ayurvedic Hospital in Mumbai, India.

In 1985, Dr. Marballi came to the United States to augment her education in Ayurveda by completing the Advanced Cosmetology Program conducted in Ohio. Bearing this one-of-a-kind combination of modern cosmetology education and a deep knowledge of holistic beauty and wellness that is the core of Ayurveda philosophy, Dr. Marballi envisioned a merging of the two that manifested as Bioticare Holistic Center in the heart of Mumbai. Rapidly becoming renowned as an authority in both the Ayurveda community and the burgeoning beauty sector of Indian commerce, Dr. Marballi developed, tested and certified hair and skincare product lines in strict compliance with ancient Ayurvedic guidelines and conducted clinical trials for prestigious pharmaceutical firms like Ajanta Pharma, who was among the first of the Indian companies to bring Ayurvedic products to the global market.

Focused exclusively on Ayurvedic Esthetics, Dr. Marballi also formulated an educational approach that addresses Ayurveda’s holistic approach to beauty and wellness through modification of the Four Pillars of Ayurvedic Nutrition (a balancing analysis of intelligent nutrition, posture improvement through yoga, quality/quantity of meditation/sleep patterns, and awareness of breath). Her refreshingly basic and lively approach to revealing millennia-old “mysteries” of Ayurveda through modern beauty awareness is a hallmark of her instructional style, introducing thousands of clients to the concept of beauty that is accessible through the maintenance of the body-mind-consciousness connection.

Expanding the scope of Bioticare, Dr. Marballi formed Bioticare’s Ayurvedic Esthetics & Cosmetology Institute, based in Mumbai (dba, Ayurveda’s Beauty Care) with her first protégé, Amita Banerjee. Their faithful client list is a Who’s Who of the Indian entertainment industry, including various media personalities, actors, models, and people from all walks of life who are passionate about personal enhancement through natural means. With increasing attention from the public-at-large came media opportunities such as a Guest Beauty Consultancy hosted by top box-office attraction, Indian actress Hema Malini, a Natural Beauty Guest Correspondent role on the popular Indian program, “Meri Saheli” as well as other talk-shows, and numerous publications and quotations in nationally-circulated newspapers and magazines such as The Times of India, Mid-Day, New Bharata Times and Femina.

In addition to the education initiatives being fulfilled by both the Ayurvedic Esthetics School and the Ayurvedic Nutrition Program, Dr. Marballi’s expanded vision of Bioticare grew to include Bioticare Ayurvedic Foods, an affordable holistic food delivery service that proved that balanced nutrition was accessible to everyone, from working mothers and schoolchildren to the elderly and home-bound infirm.
Following a successful run of Ayurvedic workshops on the international lecture circuit that took her around the world in the early 1990’s – appearances that played a critical role in reviving the demand for natural cosmetic product lines made in India – Dr. Marballi opened the first U.S. branch of Ayurveda’s Beauty Care in New York.
