We were proud to join Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton today at Kaser Park for the Back to School Backpack Giveaway. The Senator’s dedication to serving our community is something we share - as a South Brooklyn charter school, our mission is to serve this community every day and prepare our scholars for the college and career of their choice. Thank you, Senator, for showing up for our families.

This Saturday we started this school year with our annual backpack giveaway at Kaiser Park - over 750 backpacks filled with school supplies, handed to Coney Island families, plus free food, music, and games all afternoon.

We also connected with our upper elementary scholars and ask what they’re most excited about heading back to school. They had answers ready.

None of this happens without our community partners and supporters. Thank you to the Coney Island YMCA, Operation H.O.O.D., Alliance for Coney Island, Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny Assemblymember Brook-Krasny - and to:

Four scholars. Four countries. One summer. 🌍

Karen M. traced food systems and sustainability in Italy. Giliana E. studied biodiversity from Costa Rica’s Los Santos Region to the Osa Peninsula. Liam O. helped boost school enrollment in the Dominican Republic, then worked with residents of Cañada de las Palmas on clean water access. Ismail K. spent three weeks in Rabat, Morocco, living and learning entirely in Arabic.

When we say we prepare scholars for the career of their choice, this is part of what we mean. Choice depends on knowing what’s out there, and these experiences expand what our scholars believe is possible long before they ever fill out an application.

Thank you to The Experiment | High School Study Abroad and Global Glimpse for making these summers possible.

Today’s the day.

Vote like our schools and communities depend on it - they just may.

Remember: who you vote for is private, but whether you vote is public.

Polls are open until 9 PM.

Swipe through to honor Juneteenth with us. This one’s for our scholars, families, staff, and alumni - every part of the CIP community that carries freedom’s legacy forward.

06/18/2026

It takes more than one person to reach this milestone. Behind every CIP graduate stands a community that showed up, lifted them up, and supported them every step of the journey. Journey continues! 💙

One community. Countless dreams. Every step of the way.

Today belonged to our artists at the Middle School. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade scholars shared their work with the people who matter most - their friends, teachers, and families. We’re still smiling.

Last week, over 1,000 family members, alumni, scholars from all four campuses, and staff packed the room at Brooklyn College to celebrate our seniors as they announced where they’re headed next. Three of our seniors took the stage to share their stories: Gzell is off to Cornell, Aiden to Villanova, and Chase to Howard. Three different paths - but here’s what unites them: CIP alumni are already on every one of those campuses, ready to welcome them home. That’s the CIP family. Once you’re in, you’re never on your own. Congratulations, Class of 2026. We are SO proud of you.

3 years in a row. 3 Coney Island Prep scholars accepted to Cornell University.

This year, it’s senior Gzell D., debate star and Novice Division champion at the Coolidge Connecticut Open at Yale. Gzell, we’ve watched you argue, win, and grow. Now go take on the Ivy League.
