Come hang out! Paddle on the canal! Meet new friends, check "paddled the Gowanus Canal" off your summer bucket list! (And then realize its too much fun to do only once, and come back for more!!)

Our sunset paddles are in full swing! These tours are some of the most fun nights of the summer. Warm light on the water, and a mix of neighbors, friends, and first-timers taking it all in together, what's not to love?

A quick heads-up for Gowanus neighbors: the Gowanus Oversight Task Force is holding its quarterly public meeting on June 9, and if flooding prep is on your mind, this one is worth checking out.

DEP will be sharing updates on several Gowanus projects and flood preparedness for the season ahead. RSVP is required to receive a free flood preparedness kit, and kits are available while supplies last. But it's more than just flood season updates! This meeting will dig into the Unified Stormwater Rule and whether new buildings are doing their part on stormwater management.

The Dredgers support community information like this, but we are not organizing the event. Just passing it along in case it’s useful. Hope to see you there!

Bummer: we’re cancelling this weekend's walk-up paddling because of the rain. The forecast means very likely CSO conditions and no one wants to paddle in that.
We’re especially bummed to cancel our first walk-up of the season, but the canal and our paddlers both deserve a better day.
The good news? This just means we’ll have even more fun next time! Keep an eye out for the next walk-up, and we’ll see you soon on the water.

Help shape the future of the Gowanus waterfront this Tuesday, May 19th!
NYC Parks is hosting a community meeting about what’s next for this stretch of the canal, and this is one of those moments where showing up really matters.

We have a real chance to push for a waterfront that’s accessible, active, and built for the people who actually use it. That means:
• A boathouse at Gowanus Green
• Real places to get on and off the water
• Moveable bridges that keep the canal alive and working

If you care about paddling, public space, or just want to see the canal stay open and usable... come be part of it!
