FDNY EMS Pipes and Drums Founded in 2006 to Honor the Achievements and Sacrifices made by members of the FDNY Emergency Medica

The band is made up of EMT's and Paramedics that have dedicated their time to support our brothers and sisters in their time of need, to help celebrate special occasions and promote the traditions of the Greatest Fire Department and the Best Emergency Medical Service in the World.

Kevin Haugh always looked forward to attending the National EMS Memorial. He would arrive on Thursday and help set up the Memorial. He would make sure that the Band was ready to perform by making us practice until we got the tunes right. Then in the evening, he would unwind with a cigar, a drink and swap stories with his friends. His lost was felt by many of us. This year, to honor him, we brought some of his things with us so that he was still there. (Huge thanks to Tammy Chatman for setting up the photos)

We joined other bagpipers to play in the National EMS Memorial Bike Riders. The bike riders had carried dog tags that had the name of an individual honoree. At the ceremony they were able to meet the honoree’s family members and present the dog tags to them.

RIP Randy Mantooth, who through his portrayal of Paramedic Johnny Gage, in the show ‘Emergency,’ was the inspiration of so many of us to become EMTs and Paramedics! Yelling out ‘CLEAR,’ before you shocked someone was all because of him!
