Barbados is loved for its beaches, people, and attractions but did you know we also invented a sport? Road tennis, a scaled down version of lawn tennis, was pioneered in the 1930s by Barbadian Lance Bynoe.

Originally known as ‘poor man’s tennis’ because it was played on the road, and open to everyone regardless of race or social status, road tennis courts are still active in several neighbourhoods. Tournaments are also held throughout the year.
