Applications are now open for the summer session of the “Global Thinking, Local Action, Universal Impact (GLU)” Youth Service-learning Program! Applications are due July 6th. Program runs Monday, 7/20-Friday, 7/24. All youth ages 14-18 are welcome to apply! Join us for a fun, interactive week of service, workshops, reflections, dialogue, and activities related to the theme of Hunger and Food Justice. What an unforgettable evening!

We were honored to celebrate community, service, and impact at our Community Gala while recognizing five incredible honorees: Dr. Bob Fullilove, Carole Mulligan, Daisy Cruz, the Emaus Ministry at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs–St. Jude Parish, and Sr. Maria Timoney, RSHM. Their leadership and dedication continue to strengthen and uplift our community.

Thank you to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, local partners, and everyone who joined us in making this evening so meaningful and helping us continue to create free and accessible opportunities for our community. We are so grateful for your support!

Faith in action. This morning: Community fridge mutual aid fresh produce distribution and immigration know your rights kits at St. Jude. Midday today: Emergency toiletry and hygiene kit assembly (for folks experiencing homelessness or God forbid, another local emergency, so we’re prepared to respond next time). This afternoon/evening: Solidarity and calls for advocacy for those detained at Delaney detention center going on a hunger and labor strike, calling for a meeting with , demanding appropriate medical care, freeing the detainees and closing the Delaney Detention Center. Call Gov Sherrill at (609) 292-6000 to demand she meet with the striking detainees. Check out the detainees letter in the story, and support and their mutual aid efforts.

8th Annual Uptown Clean-up! ¡8vo Limpieza Anual de Alto Manhattan!

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out for the Uptown Clean-up on Saturday to clean and beautify our neighborhood! Special thanks to who came out to clean the streets personally, which led a service group in the park while others focused on the street, and for loaning the tools and providing supplies. We had volunteers from the neighborhood, parish social justice ministry teams, and students, including from and . Beautiful day for a community event! In our reflections after the service we noted both the importance of individual acts of service to change patterns, create habits, and to show kindness, AND also the importance of structural change, like making sure every neighborhood has access to trash bins and that they are regularly maintained and emptied as well. Volunteers suggested calling 311 and writing our elected officials to let them know where more bins are needed or when more regular pick-ups are needed.
