in the service of the teachers, students, and our communities. The Association of Fil-am Teachers of America was founded in 1989 by about 300 teachers because of a need to update their visas in the USA. The first
set of officers were elected and the teachers first and biggest accomplishment was the extension of the H1 visa from 5 to 6 years. After that the teachers initiated the "Balikturo" or r

eturn to teach. There are other projects being conducted by the association such as the "Paaralan sa Konsulado" or Summer School at the Consulate. Then a search for "Ulirang Guro" (Outstanding Filipino Teachers) of America was founded in 2008, recognizing the outstanding achievements of Filipino teachers in the field of Education.

Kilala ang AFTA bilang isa sa mga nangungunang overseas Filipino organizations sa pakikipagbalikbayanihan—lalo na sa kanilang "BalikTuro" Program na layuning makibahagi sa kasanayan ng mga Pilipinong g**o. Bawat taon, isinasagawa ng AFTA ang BalikTuro series sa iba't ibang parte ng Pilipinas upang mas maiangat ang antas ng edukasyon sa ating bansa.

Mula sa Commission on Filipinos Overseas, maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumubuo sa AFTA sa inyong walang sawang dedikasyon para sa ating bayan!
