Legendary Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade Ekeinde,MFR has pledged to donate 100% of the proceeds from the cinema run of her award-winning film Mother’s Love to Slum2School Africa, in support of expanding access to education for children in underserved communities.

After more than three decades as one of Nollywood’s most celebrated figures, Mother’s Love marks Dr. Omotola’s first film as a Director- and she has chosen to dedicate its impact to advancing educational opportunities for children.

Parts of the film were brought to life with the support of Slum2School Africa, with scenes filmed in our learning spaces and with participation from members of the Makoko community, whose stories helped shape the heart of the film.

We are deeply grateful for this remarkable act of generosity and for the powerful reminder that storytelling can also transform lives.

🎬 Mother’s Love is now showing in cinemas across Nigeria.

Happy 14th Anniversary, Slum2School Africa. 🎊🎉🎂

Fourteen years ago, a handful of bold, selfless young people chose to believe that every child irrespective of where they lived deserved more. From 2012 to 2016, our early volunteers walked dusty streets, crossed waters, gave their weekends, their skills, and their hearts - not for applause, but for impact.

We will be celebrating dozens of them this year and ask that you tag as many as you can remember and appreciate their service and the seed they planted.

Today, that seed has grown into a movement that has reached hundreds of thousands of children. What began as volunteer passion is now a thriving ecosystem of thousands of educators, partners, staff, and leaders shaping futures across communities. And we are not slowing down.

As we celebrate 14 years of Slum2School Africa, we also begin the official countdown to our 15th - a milestone year that will mark the launch of several bold, transformative initiatives that will redefine our scale, deepen our outcomes, and strengthen our legacy.

To our pioneer volunteers, staff and leadership team: you built the foundation.
To our present volunteers, partners, staff and leadership team: you are driving the next wave of impact.

The story is still being written. The mission is stronger than ever. And the next chapter will be even more significant.

Happy 14th Anniversary, Slum2School Africa. The best is ahead. 🌍📚

We are incredibly proud to share that our Founder, Mr. Otto Orondaam, has been invited to deliver the 56th Convocation Lecture of the University of Lagos.

This is more than an honor. It is a powerful moment for education, advocacy, and the millions of children whose futures depend on the choices we make today.

His lecture, “Maximizing Nigeria’s Demographic Dividend through Urgent Education Reform,” reflects the very heart of our mission at Slum2School: transforming access to education from charity to national investment.

As he takes this message to one of Nigeria’s most respected academic stages, we wish him clarity, courage, and strength. May his words inspire policy, awaken responsibility, and move us closer to an education system that truly serves every child.

At this year's 14th edition of Christmas in a Box, something quietly powerful happened.

14 years ago, most of the scholars in the last slide stood in line with hopeful eyes and small hands - waiting for a gift. 🎁

This year, those same children returned.
Not as recipients.
But as givers.

Our university scholars - took ownership of the moment. They handled over 90% of the shopping, wrapping, boxing, and gifting, carefully preparing presents for younger learners in primary and secondary schools.

Watching them do the shopping, wrap gifts with intention, laughter, and pride was emotional for us. Because this was never just about boxes or Christmas.

It was about the long arc of impact.
About what happens when love is consistent.
When support is sustained.
When children are not abandoned halfway through their journey.

They once received these gifts.
Today, they give them.

We are deeply grateful to our partners - Greensprings School, Cardonic, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Maltina, Nigerians Breweries, and many others - who came together to bring joy to hundreds of children and made this moment possible.

This is what service looks like when it comes full circle.
This is what impact looks like when it grows up.

Thanks to all our scholars and volunteers who made this year's Christmas In A Box our best yet.

A promise made.
A promise kept. 💙

Twelve years ago, we made a promise to children in one of Lagos’ most remote riverine communities.
A promise that tested time, resilience, and belief - to build them a school
This year, we kept that promise. 💙

What began with teaching in small huts and open lagoons is now the Slum2School Green Academy - a fully eco-friendly, climate-smart school powered by solar energy, rainwater harvesting, waste-to-biogas systems, biodiversity areas and designed for dignity and learning.

Today, 250 children are stepping into their first classrooms on full scholarship, in a world-class environment built for the future.

This is what happens when courage refuses to give up on children - and when purpose outlives obstacles.

Special thanks to all our volunteers, staff, various stakeholders and partners - Biomerieux, HP, Norwegian Embassy in Nigeria, Universal Music Group, United Airlines, Triton, Preserve our Roots, Lagos State Government through Epe Local Government, SUBEB and many others who made who made this a success.
Together let's scale this project across Africa and bring hope and education to every child in need.

Slum2School X Harvard 💯

We’re excited to share the incredible experience of hosting Professor Zoe Marks, Director of the Center of African Studies and her team from Harvard University, who spent two full days immersed in our schools and communities - seeing, listening, and learning alongside us.

They witnessed the future of education unfolding - children designing robots, painting dreams, reciting poetry, and leading with curiosity.

This visit reinforces our belief that innovation, equity, and collaboration can redefine learning for millions of children across Africa. 🌍💡

Watch this video to hear Professor Zoe’s reflections on the limitless potential within every child and share your thoughts with us.

Together we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, dream and rise.

Hope for every child ❤️

The journey to Saga community/Academy is more than just a physical one. It’s a step toward something greater, a future where education is the key to unlocking endless possibilities for generations to come.

As Slum2school head toward this momentous launch, we’re reminded that it’s not just about a place, but the lives that will be changed here. The dreams that will be nurtured. The futures that will be transformed.
This isn’t just an event.

This is the beginning of a legacy! one built on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, to learn, and to rise.

With every step, we are creating a world where hope, education, and opportunity are no longer dreams, but reality.

Welcome to the change we’re making.
