๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ฉ Wait... that's fertilizer?

In Malawi, Lucina is stirring up a batch of homemade goat manure fertilizer, an age-old method that gardeners have used to turn waste into garden gold for over 8,000 years.

Soaking goat manure in water for about two weeks creates a nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer that can be diluted and applied to crops. Using resources already on hand means less money spent and healthier soil for the next harvest.

Would you try this in your own garden, or have you made a homemade fertilizer before? Tell us what's worked for you! ๐Ÿ‘‡

What does a typical morning look like for Face to Face in Malawi? ๐ŸŒฑ

Ken starts the day by meeting up with local facilitators before everyone heads out into the field together. From there, itโ€™s miles of roads, sometimes dusty, sometimes flooded. Garden visits, check-ins with families, and plenty of friendly faces along the way. A lot of ground gets covered in a day, helping Victory Gardens to keep growing- one visit and one conversation at a time.

Creativity counts in a Victory Garden. ๐ŸŒฑ

Growing plants in old tires, feed bags, and foam containers is a practical Victory Garden technique in Cambodia that utilizes locally available materials - a method that works well with the area's climate and soil conditions. Container gardens can help conserve water during dry periods and help protect plants during floods.

Face to Face works alongside families and local facilitators in Malawi and Cambodia to build gardens that are productive, adaptable, and rooted in local knowledge. Real good from the ground up.

What makes moringa such a valuable tree in a Victory Garden? In Malawi, Ken shows us how moringa does more than grow food.

Often called the โ€œmiracle tree,โ€ moringa is known for its ability to help regenerate depleted soils while continuing to provide food year-round in challenging growing conditions.

Does anything growing in your garden serve more than one purpose?
