Reading Empowers, Inc.

Reading Empowers, Inc. Reading Empowers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy among NYC students.

Our goal is to show children that books are fun and valuable in the hopes that they will develop a lifelong passion for reading and learning. Reading Empowers hosts reading clubs on Saturday mornings, in which trained adult volunteers read stories and lead discussions based on the book's main ideas. Volunteers also facilitate the completion of an arts and crafts project that links back to the story. Each child leaves with an additional book to share with his or her family.
