LET’S GO KNICKS!!! We are so excited for the home team. And there’s something so poetic about rooting for the underdogs. We know something about underdogs and the truth is they are winners, stars and something special.

Many of the dogs we see entering shelter today are owner surrenders.

It’s feels so easy to judge but we often forget there is a story behind each and every dog that we will never fully know. Sometimes behind the surrender are often the pressures affecting so many of us New Yorkers everywhere: rising housing costs, breed restrictions, unaffordable veterinary care, job loss, medical crises, and a shrinking safety net.

The story isn’t always that someone stopped loving their pet. Sometimes it’s that they ran out of options and the only option is the shelter.

These dogs are now in foster care with us living their best life until their forever people find them! They are able to decompress, heal and be spoiled with love, support and the resources they need.

Fostering creates that bridge these dogs so desperately need so they never have to experience the upheaval of their lives again. To learn more about these dogs and maybe make one of them your own visit EveryLastOneRescue.org/Adopt

15 adoptions. 15 lives changed forever!

As we look back on May, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. This month, 15 incredible dogs found their forever homes - including two foster fails! One by our founder for Minnie, and one for Holly, our second longest stay dog who finally got the happy ending she had been waiting so patiently for!

Every adoption represents a new beginning: a home, a loving family, and the chance for a dog to be cherished exactly as they deserve. Seeing these pups leave rescue and start their next chapter is why we do what we do.

To every adopter, foster, volunteer, supporter, and advocate - thank you!!! Your compassion makes these stories possible. And to the families who chose to adopt through Every Last One Rescue, thank you for finding us and choosing to adopt your best friend for life from us!

Here’s to the these dogs whose lives changed this month and to all the dogs still waiting for their turn in our care. Meet our adoptable dogs on our site: EveryLastOneRescue.org/Adopt

Cookies N Cream was once the longest stay in Manhattan ACC. She spent 225 days in the shelter and 80 days in foster care with Every Last One Rescue before being adopted on December 29, 2024.

Her mom shared an update on her life and we love to see how well she’s doing!

We believe in responsible rescuing as a core value. Rescue for us will never be about numbers. It’s about making sure every pup in our care has the resources & support they need to thrive.

As of today, we have more foster dogs in care than ever before: 35 (and counting!) The is overflowing, & owners are surrendering dogs in heartbreaking numbers. Because of our incredible foster community, we were able to welcome 7 new faces into ELO over the last week:

⭐ Zeus (ID 253884) & Theo (ID 253885) were diverted placements from the . These brothers were apart of a now defunct multigenerational backyard breeding family. ELO brought all of the dogs into care before they ever touched the shelter. We were able to spay the remaining female dogs in the home, never to have an unintentional litter again. Zeus & Theo are in individual foster homes & on their way to finding the perfect forever homes!

⭐ Opal (ID 253754) is ELO’s first ever tripod! At 3 years old she is not only a pint sized queen but she is soft, wiggly, social and friendly to all!

⭐ Blaze is ELO’s first ever husky breed foster dogs! Blaze hails from where he transitioned to ELO directly from his AHS foster home. Blaze is dog friendly and loves a good, long walk as much as he loves a soft couch cuddle.

⭐ Summer (ID 254384) is a long haired dachshund who was surrendered by her family. At just 1 year old, it’s evident she comes from a home of love, given how social & well adjusted she is.

⭐ Dandelion (ID 254593) is a sweet, shy girl who is finally getting the love and attention she needs. Every day, Dandelion decides to be brave and is learning that the world can be kind.

⭐ Mayweather (ID 255201) is a 4 week old, 4 lbs beautiful baby boy who was found in a box in the park over Memorial Day weekend. We will never understand what drives someone to abandon a dog, let alone a helpless puppy. This little boxer boy is a fighter and he has ELO in his corner of the ring from here on out.
