Gracie Mansion Conservancy

Gracie Mansion Conservancy graciemansion.org Founded in 1981 by Mayor Edward I. Koch and its charter Board Chair, Joan K.

The Gracie Mansion Conservancy is a private nonprofit stewarding Gracie Mansion, one of the oldest surviving wood structures in Manhattan and home to NYC mayors since 1942. Davidson, The Gracie Mansion Conservancy is a private not-for-profit corporation established to preserve, maintain, enhance, and enliven Gracie Mansion - one of the oldest surviving wood structures in Manhattan and home to the

sitting mayors of New York City and their families since 1942, when the LaGuardia’s arrived as the first official residents. Its mission is to serve as the Mansion's curator, interpreter, and programmer and in turn to secure the charitable resources required to implement these intertwined tasks. While the City of New York through the Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for day-to-day operations and the capital infrastructure of the Mansion, the Conservancy raises partnership funds to restore and decorate the historic interior and provide public access via tours, programs, and diverse media platforms. The goal is not only to illustrate the rich history of New York, but also to press this context of continuity into service in helping to shape the City's dynamic future. A 2016 narrative and teacher’s guide fulfilling the goals of the seventh grade social studies curriculum serves as the cornerstone of student engagement. The 75th anniversary in 2017 of Gracie Mansion as New York’s “little White House,” brings with it the opportunity to explore and celebrate this unique landmark. Special thematic focus will be New York 1942 as a wartime harbinger of modernism and its central force for progress. ✨🎶On December 4th, the historic ballroom of Gracie Mansion was filled with warmth, elegance, and music as we welcomed our Second Live at Gracie Mansion concert: Graceful Keys & Lyrical Strings. It was an intimate evening of piano and violin that brought sound and history into perfect harmony.

Featuring the harmonic duo Violinist SoHyun Ko and Pianist Yadi Liang, the performance transformed the mansion into a living concert hall, where every note resonated through the space and every moment felt deeply personal.

We are grateful to for sponsoring this wonderful performance, to the artists , supporters, and guests for making this second Live at Gracie Concert Series evening truly unforgettable. And a special thanks to the Gracie Mansion Team and the Mayor’s Office of Special Projects and Community Events for their coordinated work to help execute this spectacular event. Here’s to music, heritage, and shared cultural experiences in one of New York City’s most treasured landmarks. ✨

🇬🇾 On July 22nd, Mayor Eric Adams and his administration proudly hosted a Guyanese Heritage celebration at Gracie Mansion!

The evening was vibrant and unforgettable; filled with dazzling outfits, cultural art displays, contributions from the International Museum of the Saree, traditional Guyanese cuisine, and lively music that brought the crowd to life.

With over 140,000 Guyanese residents, NYC is home to the fifth largest immigrant population in the city, and the second-largest in Queens. In fact, the community is so deeply rooted that parts of South Richmond Hill and Ozone Park are affectionately known as Little Guyana. Over the years, this neighborhood has become a rich blend of Caribbean and Asian cultures, with influences from Trinidadian, Indian, and Chinese communities. As a result: Streets are lined with roti shops, Chinese-Guyanese restaurants, Trinidadian bakeries, and sari boutiques; a true cultural mosaic.

That night’s menu was generously sponsored by local restaurants and featured mouthwatering dishes like Pholourie, Cassava Balls, Roti, Fish Cakes, Fried Rice, Lo Mein, and so much more! Guests were treated to vibrant fashion and art from the , the sound of rhythmic drum beats paired with captivating vocals and dance performances, and powerful speeches from community leaders helping the Guyanese community thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to MOSPCE, the Gracie Mansion team, our incredible vendors, and of course, all the amazing guests who brought the energy and Guyanese spirit that made the night so special. 🇬🇾💫

Last week, on July 8th, Mayor Eric Adams hosted the Jewish Heritage celebration at Gracie Mansion; a vibrant evening of culture, community, and connection.
The event was a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity. Mayor Adams’ unwavering commitment to inclusivity shone throughout the evening, as Gracie Mansion served as a meaningful setting to honor the diversity and shared values that shape our city.

Guests enjoyed traditional Jewish music that brought energy and joy to the celebration, along with a rich variety of cuisine representing Jewish communities around the world. Mayor Adams delivered a heartfelt speech underscoring the importance of cultural understanding and inclusiveness across New York City.

The evening also honored local community leaders dedicated to uplifting others and fostering connection across neighborhoods: a true celebration of service and heritage.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made this memorable evening possible: MOSPCE, the Gracie Mansion team, partners, vendors, and all participants. Your contributions helped make this celebration of Jewish heritage a resounding success.

June was a time to honor and uplift communities whose rich histories and contributions have significantly contributed to America’s story. On June 30th, Mayor Eric Adams and his administration hosted a vibrant Caribbean Heritage Celebration right here at Gracie Mansion; and what a night it was!

We proudly celebrated that legacy:
from the rhythms of steelpan and soca to the aroma of authentic Caribbean cuisine, the evening was a joyful reflection of the Caribbean diaspora’s profound cultural impact on New York City. Home to the largest Caribbean population in the U.S., NYC has long been shaped by the creativity, resilience, and spirit of Caribbean people.

Caribbean-American Heritage Month, first recognized in June 2005, was established to shine a light on the invaluable contributions of Caribbean immigrants to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of the United States. There was no better place to honor that history than here at the People’s House.

Guests enjoyed a menu featuring beloved local favorites like , , , and more. The evening was alive with art by , infectious beats from , and moving words from leaders committed to preserving the vibrant heartbeat of our Caribbean communities.

Congratulations to all of the evenings honorees for their outstanding contributions. Your dedicated service in your community uplifts us all.

And a heartfelt thank you to MOSPCE, the incredible Gracie Mansion Conservancy team, our sponsors and guests who filled the grounds with love, pride, and Caribbean flair.

✨ Happy Caribbean-American Heritage Month! ✨💚🤎❤️✨

One love and one heart,

Chioma

Today, Gracie Mansion Conservancy, in partnership with the Office of Urban Agriculture, welcomed students from Eagle Academy 🦅📚 for a School Tour and Fresh Food Demo!

These inspiring high school students had the chance to expand our garden — two of them even planted their own seedlings into the Gracie Mansion Garden 🌱✨ as part of a project where they’ve been learning how to cultivate and care for plants. We’ll be sure to nurture these new additions so they thrive!

A huge thank you to and of for hosting a live culinary demo 🍳🥗! They shared the importance of nutrition, creativity in the kitchen, and how simple it is to incorporate fresh, sustainable greens into everyday meals. Students left empowered with tips — including how to whip up a perfect salad dressing to elevate those summer salads 🙌✨.

Gratitude to GM Team and all who made this hands-on, healthy, and educational afternoon possible!
