A is For is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care.

Founded in 2012 by actors and activists, Martha Plimpton and Kellie Overbey, A is For emerged in response to the escalating legislative attacks on access to safe, reproductive healthcare. A is For amplifies art and artists that work to end the stigma against abortion. We envision a world in which every person has access to the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare free from judgement, scrutiny, and obstruction. A is For is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

Announcing our 2nd place winner of our 2025-2026 play contest cycle: Omo Mi by Sadia Alao.

Omo Mi follows Amina, a young Nigerian-American girl who has to navigate an unexpected pregnancy and possible abortion while dealing with her overbearing mother, Halima, who is vehemently pro-life. Set over the backdrop of Egungun masquerade and Yoruba mysticism, this story explores the notions we impose on women’s sexual and physical beings and how these impositions ultimately lead to generational hurt.

Announcing our third place winner of our 2025-2026 contest cycle: The Ella Elliott Fan Club of Southeast Wisconsin by Lauren Wimmer!

It's 2008 and four high school kids have a fan club for their favorite Christian movie star and singer Ella Elliott. They idolize Ella Elliott for being a pro-life warrior in the liberal Hollywood landscape. From a basement in the suburbs outside of Milwaukee, they work on raising money to have Ella Elliott perform at their church's summer fair. When one of the members becomes pregnant, they must come to terms on what to do. And how.

We are thrilled to announce our May beneficiary: Red River Clinic Fund.

Red River Women’s Clinic is an independent abortion care clinic located in Moorhead, Minnesota. Formerly located in Fargo, ND, they were the only abortion provider in North Dakota for 20+ years. After the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade in June of 2022, Red River made the commitment to continue to provide abortion care to the region, and moved their services across the river to Moorhead.
All funds are used to offset costs to patients such as translation services, travel costs and abortion fees.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and A Is For is here to remind you about the link between abortion stigma and mental health.

In the Turnaway Study, those who had a desired abortion were NOT more likely to suffer from mental health problems compared to those who were forced to keep their pregnancy to term.

In fact, (!) restricting abortion access when desired or needed was shown to increase the risk of mental health distress, more so than the act of getting an abortion. Additionally, 99% of those who obtained an abortion felt that they had made the right decision, and their most reported emotional reaction was RELIEF!

The myth of abortion being detrimental to a person’s mental health adds to abortion stigma and further adds a barrier to pregnant people getting the care they need.

Abortion is safe and essential healthcare.

Don’t miss Fabrizio Guido’s set at STAND UP FOR ABORTION! He is best known for MR IGLESIASM, GOOD BURGER 2, and most recently RUNNING POINT.
While working alongside stand-up comic Gabriel Iglesias, Fabrizio was inspired to give stand-up a shot back in 2021, and he hasn’t looked back.
Since then, he’s been developing his material and performing at open mics both locally and across the country, and we are excited to have him join our show

An unapologetic line-up of comics come together to raise awareness for A is For, an artist-driven organization that is dedicated to reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care.
