A is For is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care.

Founded in 2012 by actors and activists, Martha Plimpton and Kellie Overbey, A is For emerged in response to the escalating legislative attacks on access to safe, reproductive healthcare. A is For amplifies art and artists that work to end the stigma against abortion. We envision a world in which every person has access to the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare free from judgement, scrutiny, and obstruction. A is For is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

“Medical students and residents deserve clinical exposure to abortion care throughout their medical education. MSFC provides financial and logistical resources to help future physicians receive this exposure, practice hands-on skills, and review residency training sites with the intention of becoming abortion providers.”

Can’t make it to Broadway Acts for Abortion 2026? Donate to our 2026 campaign! As a non-profit, your donations make our programs possible, like our ‘all it takes is ONE ACT’ play festival and contest!

The A is For Playwriting Contest and all it takes is ONE ACT Festival engages playwrights who are passionate about abortion rights and reproductive justice, and offers community members the opportunity to see those stories represented on stage. Each year, three winning plays are performed by a talented group of actors. Over the past six years, we have received over 1600 one-act plays about reproductive justice, and brought 15 of them to the stage. The Fifth ONE-ACT Festival took place on June 15th, 2026 at Playwrights Horizons.
