The first annual “Call to Action for Gender Equality” conference in support of UN Women will present a stellar program with internationally known authorities, subject matter experts and individual heroes who will tell their stories of empowerment. Reflecting the importance of the program, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will deliver opening remarks.

“A Call to Action for Gender Equality” will ad

dress major global issues that are impacting women’s development worldwide:
Ending violence against women and girls
Economic disparity and empowerment
Reliable access to quality healthcare
Education for women
Roles of boys and men in gender equality

A benefit concert and closing dinner in the UN Delegates dining room will follow the conference, providing time for sponsors and attendees to connect. The conference is the first phase of a strategy that includes the creation of the Foundation for Gender Equality, which will be fully dedicated to supporting UN Women and will focus on the eradication of these issues. To generate momentum and grassroots support, mini-conferences will be held at major cities in the US and Canada.
