The Writing Center offers personal attention from expert and professionally trained tutors who are available to assist students with all writing assignments at all levels.
OVER 75,000 TUTORING SESSIONS SINCE 2012!
We offer support for writing in all subjects: English, ESL, Education, Geography, Health, History, Art and Music History, Psychology, Sociology, all Sciences.
Students may come at any stage of any writing assignment, including the research paper. Often, just getting started on an assignment is a challenge. Tutors will assist.
We encourage students to plan to come for multiple sessions during the process of drafting and writing any paper.
The Writing Center approach is to guide, instruct and empower by collaborating, engaging in discussion about the papers' ideas and development, and eliciting responses through the Socratic Method (the professionally accepted tutoring methodology). Sentence level problems are addressed through scaffolding, modeling, and guided practice using supplemental materials.
It is our goal that students leave each session having learned something about writing.
PROOF READING POLICY: The tutors will suggest ways the student can identify patterns of errors, and using instructional materials, teach the student error correction.
For answers to any questions or if faculty wish to schedule a tour or traveling workshop, please don't hesitate to contact the Writing Center.
