One wish has the power to change a family’s lives for years to come. 🌟
When Kennedy was just 8 years old, she was diagnosed with a blood disorder, and underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Once she was healthy enough, her wish was granted: “the coolest horse in the whole wide world,” a white mustang named Lydia, gave her a break from treatment and hospital stays.
Now, Kennedy is granting wishes at Make-A-Wish North Texas, and her mom, Terri, and brother, Cole, are running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon for Team Make-A-Wish. 💙
Terri and Cole watched Kennedy build up her strength between treatments until she was cleared to ride her horse. Today, with their own goal in mind, they’re training around the clock, comparing mileage and cheering each other on, all while fundraising for Make-A-Wish.
“I know firsthand how much of an endurance battle those treatments are,” Cole said. “They’re physically and emotionally draining, for the kid going through it and for the family supporting them. The marathon is my way of matching a small piece of that…Running is something I love, and this is a chance to use it to honor my sister and raise money for families who are still in the middle of their own fight.”
“It’s an honor to run for [wish kids],” Terri added. “It’s an honor to give back to an organization that really gave so much to our family.”
