🎙️ Shouting out two amazing High School classes coming to our Sound Studio this Fall!

🎶 In Song Sanctuary (Tuesdays) with Dani Murcia you can turn what’s on your mind into music! Produce tracks in SoundTrap, write lyrics about things you care about, and create an original song, musical poem, or sound art piece.

🎧 In Emancipation Epilogue (Thursdays) with Jade you can bring your story and perspective to the mic. We will explore the question “what does freedom mean to you?” through podcasting as you learn to interview, research, record and edit.

No experience necessary, just a curiosity and something you want to say! With Dani and Jade’s guidance, you’ll have space to experiment and discover new skills!

As we continue celebrating 30 years of the Girls Club, alumna Lizabeth shares what it meant to grow up in a place where she felt safe to express herself and explore who she was.

Now an early childhood educator, she recognizes the same spark she felt at Girls Club in the children she works with today. We’re so proud that she’s carrying that care and encouragement forward to the next generation. 💜

A little throwback for the last day of Climate Week 🌳✨

In a 2019 Middle School Animation class, our members dreamed up The Trees Speak: a zany story where we listen to the trees, they share a few lessons, and leave us with one message: protect them. 💚

What’s growing on our roof this Climate Week? Here’s a glimpse into our garden. 🌱

Native plants that support local pollinators. A living classroom where our members and community can get their hands in the soil and learn about urban agriculture. Fresh produce that we share with our supporters at EV ❤️ NYC who add it to meals served to our staff, members & community.

Community gardens have long been part of life on the Lower East Side. We’re proud to be a part of that legacy, growing food, making space for nature, and sharing what we grow with our neighbors. Thank you to our partners and supporters who help us care for our garden and grow a greener future together. 💚

For the past 10 years, colin kaepernick has been a true champion of the Girls Club. Through his Million Dollar Pledge, Know Your Rights Camp and so many acts of generosity and care, Colin has invested in our young people and our work.

Our members have traveled to Know Your Rights Camp across the country; participating, DJing, working, learning and building community. From providing us with backpacks and school materials, to creating meaningful opportunities for our members, Colin and his partner NESSA have shown up for us in countless ways.

Congratulations, Colin, on your new book - Perilous Fight - we can’t wait to read it! Thank you for showing us some love on The Daily Show ! We are so grateful for your continued advocacy, belief and support. We are so proud to be part of this movement with you. ❤️

“We were learning to be activists and leaders, and to change the world.”

Renee has been part of the Girls Club since 2000. She remembers when the future site of our building was still an empty lot, where we held a weekly Farmers Market to bring fresh produce into the neighborhood.

The lessons she learns here about community, leadership, speaking up & trying new things have stayed with her - and today, she shares them with her own students.

As we celebrate 30 years, we’re honoring our early members who helped to shape the Girls Club and continue to carry its spirit into the world. ❤️

We’re back! ✨ We are thrilled to welcome Middle School students into the building this week for our first week of Fall programs. It’s so great to see familiar faces, meet new members, and get back into the rhythm of creating together.

This session we are offering a broad range of programs: STEM, Art, Dance, Theater, Sewing, Sound Studio, Culinary, Planetarium, Wellness & more! Young people have the opportunity to explore new interests, build their skills, and cultivate a sense of curiosity and wonder. 💫
