Happy Independence Day, Bangladesh! 🇧🇩
Today we honor the strength, sacrifice, and resilience that shaped our nation. Woven through every thread of our history, rooted in our land, flowing through our rivers, and rising with the sun. May we continue to carry this legacy forward through the spirit of our people, for generations to come.

Ekushey February is more than a date on the calendar — it is a tribute to our history, our resilience, and the power of language to shape who we are. Born from the historic Language Movement of 1952, this day honors the brave souls who stood up for the right to speak in our mother tongue, Bangla. International Mother Language Day celebrates language not only as a means of communication, but as the heart of culture, heritage, and identity.

This year’s theme — “Youth voices on multilingual education” — highlights the vital role young people play in shaping inclusive and empowering learning environments where every language can thrive. It calls us to listen to the next generation, to value all languages in education, and to embrace the richness that multilingualism brings to our communities. The United Nations emphasizes that multilingualism is not only a social reality but a fundamental human trait and a powerful educational approach, with youth playing a key role in making linguistic diversity more visible and valued.

As we continue to learn, speak, read, and teach Bangla, we carry the spirit of Ekushey forward. By uplifting young voices and championing multilingual education, we honor the sacrifices of the past while building a more inclusive and hopeful future for generations to come.

Happy Independence Day, Bangladesh!

On March 26th, 1971, Bangladesh declared its independence, igniting a journey toward freedom and justice through a 9-month-long Liberation War. Today, we remember the sacrifices of all those who fought and gave their lives for our Bangladesh—a land of resilience, courage, and hope.

May the red sun always shine bright over our beautiful green land. Joy Bangla! 🇧🇩

When we visit our family homes, we exchange pleasantries—words woven into our minds like a familiar song. Words that we can pass on to the next generation, just as they were passed to us. But there was a time when our mother tongue was threatened. The simplest exchange of words, so deeply rooted in us, that could have not existed.

Today we celebrate Ekushey February, a day born from the sacrifices of those in Bangladesh who fought to preserve their right to speak our language. Their sacrifice in 1952 sparked a global movement that led to the establishment of International Mother Language Day in 2000, a day to celebrate and protect the diversity of languages around the world.

This year is especially significant as we celebrate the Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of International Mother Language Day. The theme for 2025 highlights the importance of languages in building more inclusive and sustainable societies. It reminds us that language is more than words—it is identity, history, and connection. May we honor that forever.

Let us continue to speak, learn, and teach our children the language of our ancestors, honoring our martyrs sacrifices for generations to come. Joy Bangla!

We will always remember our martyrs, our people who sacrificed their lives for our motherland, our Bangladesh. As we honor the bravery of our martyrs, let us also commend the perseverance of our people. Our youth, especially, continue to make known the home that we all deserve, a home we continue to fight for, a home we will continue to rebuild and cherish. Happy Victory Day, Bangladesh. 🇧🇩

Today, August 5th, 2024, will go down in Bangladesh history. Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her 15 year reign as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, fleeing the country, and marking a historic victory for student protests.

Students have always been the heart of Bangladesh and the face of our revolution. And they have persevered. Today, we celebrate a new wave of independence for Bangladesh. 🇧🇩

As of today, the Supreme Court has overruled the High Court’s decision to reinstate the quota system. But at what cost?

We’ve been reading the reports - people, students, murdered and brutally beaten. Numbers are criminally underreported - at least 400+ people have died based on ground reports.

It’s been clear that this isn’t about the quota movement anymore. No civilian should have to live in fear of their government. Police and army were given the reins to shoot on site, people were brutally beaten, news outlets suppressed, networks completely shut off, curfews instated. We still don’t know what’s happening under the guise of an internet blackout, merely grasping at whatever information is available through the channels that still exist.

This is not a sign of a free world, a government for the people. This is not a reflection of what the liberation movement was meant to be for the people. Demands have been made, and students and civilians are not backing down anytime soon.

Many officials are stating that a curfew will continue to be imposed until the situation improves. The ‘situation’ will not simply die down or improve. There must be change, the government must reflect the needs of the people.

We stand with students and civilians. We mourn for the martyrs. The government must face justice.
