Ariella is a young girl from Cameroon who was sent to India from Africa for heart healing care thanks to our partnerships with HeartGift, Ivonne Lopez, and AC Peter.

Ariella's mother contacted us to share some words about her experience with Gift of Life International. ❤️

“I just wanted to use this opportunity to thank the entire Gift of Life team for giving my daughter the opportunity to live healthy for a year plus now that we are back.

Though the doctors in India told us we will have to come back when Ariella is about 4 or 5 years old, since she had a temporary solution, we keep thanking God everyday for at least bringing us to this day with the help of the beautiful team, Gift of Life.

We pray before we return back to India in the future that she should still be very fine and healthy. May God almighty continue to bless, guide, protect, and strengthen you all to keep helping children around the world.”

In the summer of 2026, we launched our Global Health Internship Program in collaboration with Hobart and William Smith Colleges!

During our visit to the Dominican Republic in June, our volunteer team was joined by 4 interns from HWS. These four interns, Juliza, Kelly, Lily, and Bea, shadowed multiple specialties in the medical field and learned first-hand what it is like to heal little hearts around the world. ❤️

Our next group of interns will join around the world again in 2027. 🌎

For a child recovering from open heart surgery, the first walk after is more than a milestone. It’s a powerful symbol of strength, healing, and hope. With each little step, a child moves closer to going home, playing, dreaming, and simply being a kid again.

For World Heart Day, we want to say thank you.

Thank you to every medical professional, volunteer, global partner, and individual supporter who has helped us healing little hearts around the world for over 50 years. Today is used to raise global awareness for heart health. Today, we think about the children around the world who lack access to the specialized care they need for congenital heart disease. Today, we think about the ways we can continue to help them achieve the quality of life that every child deserves no matter where they were born.

Behind every heart healed is a child with dreams, a family holding onto hope, and a future waiting to unfold. Thank you for making our work possible. ❤️

Over 1.3 million children are born each year with a congenital heart disease. 93% of them are born in a country that cannot provide them care.

Each child we save is another chapter in our story of how regular people, driven by passion, make a difference in the world.
