This composition created by teenagers is called “Sama Sama,” referring to the joy of community. Due to a torrential downpour, the song became a dance for all workshop participants. May the Tagbanua remember this joy in their togetherness as they unite to assert their ancestral rights over their lands. Thank you to the workshop organizers Cartwheel Foundation, Inc. Ateneo Human Rights Center MAGIS Creative Spaces and our CiH facilitators William Harvey Alize Francheska Rozsnyai, Soprano Lo Mares Music Rebecca Schlappich Charles and CiH donor the Michael and Mary Ann Wells Charitable Trust

As part of our exchange with the indigenous community organized by Cartwheel Foundation, Inc. MAGIS Creative Spaces Ateneo Human Rights Center , today William Harvey Rebecca Schlappich Charles Alize Francheska Rozsnyai, Soprano Lo Mares Music traveled to Marabal to teach Tagbanua youth how to compose music about their heritage and natural environment. We hope this exchange strengthens them in their pride as they struggle to assert their land rights and work to receive their Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title.
