Legendary coach Jim Valvano once said, “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person … he believed in me.” Most of the kids we help at Street 2 Street grow up without anyone to give them that kind of encouragement. Yet we believe they can rise above their circumstances to make a positive impact on their world. That’s why Street 2 Street exists to help at-risk kids Play, Bel

ong, and Matter through sports events, mentoring, and personal development. We create leaders who become champions in the game of life. Street 2 Street is working toward the goal, by the year 2020, of impacting 20,000 at-risk kids in 20 urban communities in the United States. We hope you will join us in making this a reality!

Spring, 2005. A corner in Brooklyn.

Woody and Renee Woodfin came to New York City after 9/11 to serve teenagers impacted by the tragedy. What they found were kids whose pain started long before that day.

So they threw a basketball tournament.

150 kids showed up. Every single one of them got to feel like a champion.

Twenty years later, we're still here. For every kid. In every neighborhood. 🏀

It’s not random spam or casual texts. It’s kids. Always kids.

“I fixed my grades.”
“I’ve been practicing.”
“I’m ready now.”

Some of them are 11. Some are 14. All of them are trying to earn their way into a program that gives them something consistent in a world that isn’t.

Street 2 Street’s Paterson Center of Excellence was built for 160 kids. We’re at 187.

And there are still 75 waiting.

Not because they didn’t try. Because there simply isn’t enough funding to open the door wider.
