🎻 We loved our time in New Orleans this month!

In partnership with NOLA Chamber Fest and New Orleans Friends of Music, Decoda led masterclasses, shared an interactive community program, and performed a public concert—connecting with incredible young artists and audiences along the way.

Grateful for these collaborations and the chance to make music together in such a vibrant city. đź’›

MAJOR ARTISTIC UPDATE ALERT::: Decoda is thrilled to welcome Catherine Gregory as our next Co-Artistic Director!

An Australian-born flutist praised by The New York Times for her “magically mysterious” sound, Catherine has performed at major venues worldwide and is the creator of Just Breathe, a groundbreaking initiative exploring the intersection of breath and music. She also nurtures the next generation of artists as Lecturer in Flute and Woodwind Chamber Music at UCLA (starting 2025), Director of the UCLA Gluck Fellows Program, and faculty member at The Colburn School Conservatory. Having previously served as Co-AD from 2017–2020, Catherine is once again bringing her artistry, vision, and leadership to Decoda.

Catherine shares:

“Decoda’s heartbeat is the work we do on and off stage with creativity, excellence, fun, and empathy. Whether onstage in Carnegie Hall, at an elementary school, or working at a prison, we are always about bringing the same energy, integrity, and virtuosity. What I cherish about each new Decoda project, especially as new members fold into the group, is how we continue to learn from one another, and to develop our skills in the service of a common vision and mission. Especially against the backdrop of so much instability and division, leaning into that artistry and humanity is how Decoda can double down on its mission to create a more compassionate and connected world through music.”

Catherine takes the baton from Claire Bryant, who is stepping down from the co-AD role after 3 years of groundbreaking leadership, and will serve alongside co-AD Clara Lyon and Managing Director Amy Kirkland. We are so grateful for Claire's intrepid vision these last three years, and excited for what’s ahead with Catherine at the helm!

🎵 Clara Schumann's stunning "Romance" for cello and piano

'We needed a piano that could cut through an orchestra and still have a beautiful, warm singing sound. That’s a lot to ask for in one piano'
