Our September 18 Homenetmen New York Cubs and Scouts meeting was filled with energy, learning, and creativity!
We kicked off the evening with 3 exciting STEAM-off games—Capture the Flag, Rattlesnake and our old favourite Runnaway train—which encouraged teamwork, communication, and quick thinking.
Afterward, we gathered to learn about Khachverats, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. We also explored the history and meaning of Armenian khachkars—our beautifully carved cross-stones that symbolize faith, heritage, and the enduring spirit of the Armenian people.
Our Cubs then got creative by decorating khachkar images. Our older Scouts, who recently passed their safety test and earned their Whittling Chip, carefully used their pocketknives to carve Armenian-inspired khachkars from bars of soap.
It was a wonderful evening connecting faith, Armenian culture, Scouting skills, and creativity!
The adventure continues…
