3GNY is a NYC-based community formed by grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, to carry on the storie Now is the time to take responsibility for these stories.

WEDU is the premier educational initiative to train grandchildren of survivors to learn and share their family history in classrooms. We are excited to share “WEDU” (We Educate) – our education initiative that empowers grandchildren of survivors to bring our family stories and lessons of the Holocaust to school classrooms. Developed under the guidance of Facing History and Ourselves, along with support from Yad Vashem, WEDU prepares participants to learn and teach their family stories. WEDU is a powerful contribution to Holocaust education:

URGENCY: As the population of Holocaust survivors declines, their stories should not be lost with them. PERSONAL: As a living link to our grandparents’ stories, we are in a special position to elevate the individual experience from the collective. RELEVANCE TO ALL: The Holocaust serves as an instructive entry point for examining prejudice today. This program will make connections between historical events and issues of intolerance and persecution that remain with us. SOCIAL ACTION: In a multicultural society, we all have a stake in challenging assumptions. This program will actively engage students to think about ways to confront intolerance and prejudice. Your involvement is necessary. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and sharing your family story in a classroom:

We are just one month away from our annual Intergenerational Brunch!

We are looking forward to connecting with one another, honoring Holocaust memory, and building community together.

We hope you will join us for a moving conversation with Holocaust survivor Ilse Melamid to hear her testimony. Ilse will be joined by her family member, Sherry Kohn, for a discussion about the intergenerational transfer of memory and legacy, and Ilse’s experience with the Kindertransport.

Meet Leah Goldberg, our featured speaker for our upcoming WEDU Wednesday: Stories Survive!

A dedicated 3GNY volunteer and longtime member of the Syracuse Jewish community, Leah has shared her grandmother Susy Taubner’s Holocaust story with students in more than 40 classrooms throughout Central New York over the last few years. Through her work, Leah helps ensure that her family’s history is remembered and that future generations understand the importance of bearing witness.

On November 11th, join Leah as she shares her grandmother’s remarkable story of survival, resilience, and finding love after the Holocaust, and learn how she carries her family’s legacy forward through education and remembrance.

We are proud to share our 2025–26 Impact Report. This past year, our volunteers brought their families’ Holocaust stories to more than 38,000 students and community members, through 748 presentations.

Today we mark 25 years since the September 11th terrorist attacks.

In the years since 9/11, we have seen many descendants of victims, as well as those who experienced the day in different ways, share their testimonies.

As 3Gs, we understand and appreciate both how challenging and how important the sharing of these stories can be.
