3GNY is a NYC-based community formed by grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, to carry on the storie Now is the time to take responsibility for these stories.

WEDU is the premier educational initiative to train grandchildren of survivors to learn and share their family history in classrooms. We are excited to share “WEDU” (We Educate) – our education initiative that empowers grandchildren of survivors to bring our family stories and lessons of the Holocaust to school classrooms. Developed under the guidance of Facing History and Ourselves, along with su

pport from Yad Vashem, WEDU prepares participants to learn and teach their family stories. WEDU is a powerful contribution to Holocaust education:

URGENCY: As the population of Holocaust survivors declines, their stories should not be lost with them. PERSONAL: As a living link to our grandparents’ stories, we are in a special position to elevate the individual experience from the collective. RELEVANCE TO ALL: The Holocaust serves as an instructive entry point for examining prejudice today. This program will make connections between historical events and issues of intolerance and persecution that remain with us. SOCIAL ACTION: In a multicultural society, we all have a stake in challenging assumptions. This program will actively engage students to think about ways to confront intolerance and prejudice. Your involvement is necessary. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and sharing your family story in a classroom:

It was so great to sit down last month with Olympic skier and fellow 3G Avital Carroll, fresh off her Top 10 finishes at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics!

Avital shared about competing on the world stage, flying through the air while skiing moguls, and using her sport to honor her family heritage as the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors from Austria.

Learn to share your grandparent’s story with other grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from NY, NJ, CT, and the Philadelphia area. There are just two seats left for the cohort starting next week! Please sign up before 5PM on Sunday, August 23rd.

The class will meet virtually on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00PM EST on the following dates:

From ghettos to work camps to death marches, Jews sang in the face of horror, they observed holidays, celebrated weddings and bar mitzvahs - and they told jokes. They refused to let their humanity be taken from them even when their lives were at stake. Humor was both a coping mechanism and a way to stand up to those who would dehumanize them.

On Tuesday, August 4th, 3GNY was delighted to welcome 200 guests to the Moise Safra Center on the Upper East Side for our 2nd Annual Evening Under the Stars Summer Benefit.

We were proud to honor Leora Klein, co-founder of 3GNY and creator of WEDU, and Mark and Steve Wladis, and celebrate with our community of 3Gs, friends, and family.

Who would have thought a 3GNY Shabbat dinner at the Center for Jewish History could change someone's life, and solve a family's long-held Holocaust mystery?

Hear from Dave Reckess, Executive Director of 3GNY, as he introduces Katie Waizer, someone he met on the streets of Poland during a 3GNY trip partnered with JDC Entwine. Katie had spent years piecing together her family tree, a project that had stalled at a dead end.

Back in NYC, Katie came to the Shabbat dinner and asked a question about her family history, a question that sparked CJH's interest and drew her into a search that uncovered answers she'd been looking for all along.

What a year!!!! 📝💫

The 2025-2026 school year was a record breaking year for 3GNY and 3GNJ. We are proud to have reached so many audience members across schools, community centers, libraries, and more.

A big thank you to our speakers! Throughout the year, you have lovingly shared your grandparents’ stories of survival, resilience, and resistance and we hear feedback all the time about how much our audience members benefit and learn from these enduring stories and lessons told through our community of living links.
