🚨 WEATHER CANCELLATION 🚨 Due to the incoming extreme weather forecast, tomorrow’s MGPA Summer Reading Circle session (Wednesday, July 29) is canceled. Because we gather outdoors on the passive lawn, the safety of our families and young readers is our top priority. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week, Wednesday, August 5 at 11:00 AM! ☀️🥵 EVENT CANCELLATION NOTICE ☀️🥵Due to tomorrow’s extreme heat forecast, we are canceling tomorrow’s MGPA Summer Reading Circle (Wednesday, July 15). Our reading circle takes place outdoors on the passive lawn. Because the safety and health of our readers, families, and community come first, we cannot host a safe session in these dangerous temperatures. 🏡 Stay Safe & Cool:Please stay indoors, drink plenty of water, and keep cool! NYC cooling centers are open. Check local updates to find a cool zone near you. 📚 Next Week:We look forward to seeing everyone back on the blankets next Wednesday, July 22, at 11:00 AM. In June, there were several community input meetings for Parks in community board 11, including Marcus Garvey Northwest and Northeast playgrounds and the Southern Amphitheater Plaza Reconstruction. Comments are still welcome for these areas, and you can do so via https://www.nycgovparks.org/reg/community-input-meetings. Marcus Garvey playgrounds and southern amphitheater reconstruction will accept comments until July 14.

Yes! The outdoor swimming pool 🏊🏾‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️ 🏊 at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem (located at 124th Street and Fifth Avenue) is open for the summer season. Key Details & Rules Hours: Open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00PM Cleaning Break: The pool closes daily between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for mandatory cleaning. Admission: 100% free. No membership is required. Important Tips for Visiting Bring a lock: You are required to bring your own combination lock to use the lockers. Pack light: Electronics and glass are not allowed on the pool deck, and if you bring a cover-up shirt, it must be white. Beat the lines: Because it is free, lines can get long on hot days. NYC Parks will be starting the design process for important capital projects in Marcus Garvey Park, including the reconstruction of the two playgrounds on the north side of the park along 124th Street and improvements in the vicinity of the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater. Come join us to share your ideas for these projects at our virtual Community Input Meeting on Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will take place on Microsoft Teams❣️

Registration is required via nyc.gov/parks/input. The link will be emailed the afternoon of the meeting to those who register in advance❣️
