Saturday, October 10th: Celebrating the Legacy of Marcus Garvey Park 🏞️
From 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.: Richard Rodgers Amphitheater, 18 Mount Morris Park West Saturday, October 24th: Harlem Halloween Dog Parade 🐶
From 3:00 p.m-6:00 p.m.: Dog park and 120th Street from 5th to Madison Avenue
Join the Marcus Garvey Park Alliance for the second annual dog Halloween parade. Participants will gather at 120th Street and Fifth Avenue before making their way to Madison Avenue for a fun afternoon of Halloween-themed activities for dogs and their owners. Sunday, October 25: Its My Park Day😇

🍁 Happy First Day of Autumn from Marcus Garvey Park Alliance ! 🍂Today marks the official start of the fall season, and there is no better place to watch the leaves change color than right here in the heart of Harlem. From the historic Mount Morris Fire Watchtower looking out over the city to the winding pathways under our beautiful tree canopy, the park is shifting into its most vibrant season. Time: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: The Richard Rodgers Amphitheater(in Marcus Garvey Park)
Details: The MOTHERSHIP Dance & Music Festival is Harlem Dance Club’s interactive voyage of music, community, and dance. Since 2018, this joyful celebration has transformed the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater into a launchpad of culture, rhythm, and connection—featuring Afro, House, Haitian, Hip Hop, Indian, Vogue, live drumming, and more.

Live Drumming, Stepping, Swing, West African, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Praise, Classical Indian Dance and more. Both events are free and open to everyone in the community. Let’s show up big and celebrate our beautiful park together!

🚨 WEATHER CANCELLATION 🚨 Due to the incoming extreme weather forecast, tomorrow’s MGPA Summer Reading Circle session (Wednesday, July 29) is canceled. Because we gather outdoors on the passive lawn, the safety of our families and young readers is our top priority. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week, Wednesday, August 5 at 11:00 AM! Stay safe and dry at home with a good book! 📚🌧️

☀️🥵 EVENT CANCELLATION NOTICE ☀️🥵Due to tomorrow’s extreme heat forecast, we are canceling tomorrow’s MGPA Summer Reading Circle (Wednesday, July 15). Our reading circle takes place outdoors on the passive lawn. Because the safety and health of our readers, families, and community come first, we cannot host a safe session in these dangerous temperatures. 🏡 Stay Safe & Cool:Please stay indoors, drink plenty of water, and keep cool! NYC cooling centers are open. Check local updates to find a cool zone near you. 📚 Next Week:We look forward to seeing everyone back on the blankets next Wednesday, July 22, at 11:00 AM. Until then, keep “watering your minds” with a great book at home!

In June, there were several community input meetings for Parks in community board 11, including Marcus Garvey Northwest and Northeast playgrounds and the Southern Amphitheater Plaza Reconstruction. Comments are still welcome for these areas, and you can do so via https://www.nycgovparks.org/reg/community-input-meetings. Marcus Garvey playgrounds and southern amphitheater reconstruction will accept comments until July 14.

Yes! The outdoor swimming pool 🏊🏾‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️ 🏊 at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem (located at 124th Street and Fifth Avenue) is open for the summer season. Key Details & Rules Hours: Open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00PM Cleaning Break: The pool closes daily between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for mandatory cleaning. Admission: 100% free. No membership is required. Important Tips for Visiting Bring a lock: You are required to bring your own combination lock to use the lockers. Pack light: Electronics and glass are not allowed on the pool deck, and if you bring a cover-up shirt, it must be white. Beat the lines: Because it is free, lines can get long on hot days.
