We have two amazing opportunities coming up at Marcus Garvey Park to show our green spaces some love. Grab your friends and come make a difference!

1️⃣ Trees Count (Tree Census)
When: Tuesday, June 2
What: Every decade, NYC tracks its urban forest. Help us map, measure, and identify our neighborhood trees so we can keep Harlem green and resilient! Training and materials are provided. RSVP to [email protected].
2️⃣ It’s My Park Day (Spring Edition!)
When: Saturday, June 6 | Starting at 9:00 AM
What: Our annual volunteer day with the Marcus Garvey Park Alliance! Come help us paint benches, sweep curb lines, and mulch the dog run. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just want to help pick up litter, your hands make a huge impact 💚.

The opening reception for “From Root to Bloom” took place this past Monday, April 27, 2026, at Marcus Garvey Park. The project is hosted by NYC Parks’ Art in the Parks program, which regularly features temporary public art throughout the city’s green spaces. Several key officials and city representatives were expected or confirmed to attend based on their roles in the collaboration. Singha Hon: The Artist in Residence responsible for the installation was present to discuss the work. Hon’s residency with the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice aims to use creative practice to help New Yorkers “thrive and blossom” by addressing systemic inequities through visual art. The Harlem community as well as President of MMPCIA, MGPA and other MGPA Board Members witnessed the opening ceremony 🎊. Make sure to check out this beautiful work of art . The From Root to Bloom public art installation, created by artist Singha Hon, is on view at Marcus Garvey Park through July 2026
