I took part in a vision screening for 40 preschoolers aged 3 to 6. Six of them were referred to an eye doctor for further evaluation.

We used a Welch Allyn device—an impressive machine that can screen for vision problems and detect signs of eye abnormalities in about 15 seconds.

It’s hard to know how children see the world through their eyes, so I’m glad we could help identify potential issues early. Helping them see better can make both playtime and learning so much more enjoyable!

Eye Screeningに行きました。3歳〜6歳の園児40人の検査をして6人が「眼医者さんに行ってみましょう！」という結果でした。

Welch Allynのマシンを使いましたが、約15秒で視力検査だけでなく目の異常を見つける優れものです。

子ども達の目がどのように見えているかなんて分からないから、早い時期に見つけてあげることができてよかったと思います。これで遊びも勉強も楽しくなること請け合いです！

Dear Friends and Supporters,

The New York Japanese American Lions Club is collecting donations to support those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.

We extend our deepest sympathies to all those who have been affected by this devastating earthquake.

To help those impacted by the disaster rebuild their lives and regain a sense of safety and stability as soon as possible, the New York Japanese American Lions Club will provide support to the affected communities through the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).

The damage has been extensive, with 22,664 homes affected. As of August 10, 6,092 people were staying in 97 evacuation shelters.

According to the Japanese Red Cross Society, as of August 13, more than 6,000 people remain displaced and are still living in evacuation shelters.

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International, provides emergency relief and recovery assistance following earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters around the world, working closely with Lions clubs in affected communities.

LCIF is committed to directing 100% of donations toward grants and programs. Your generous contributions will help provide much-needed assistance to communities affected by the disaster.

We sincerely ask for your generous support to help the people and communities of Kumamoto recover and rebuild.

国連をはじめ、世界のさまざまな舞台で活躍する日本人をゲストにお迎えし、
普段なかなか聞くことのできないリアルな経験や仕事のお話、世界の今を語っていただきます。
