We are a public grantmaking foundation dedicated to improving the lives of residents of New York City and its suburbs. We bring together individuals, families, foundations, and businesses to build a more equitable community and support the effective nonprofits that make a difference. We apply knowledge, creativity, and resources to the most challenging issues in an effort to ensure meaningful opportunities and a better quality of life for all New Yorkers, today and tomorrow. Since 1924, the New York Community Trust has helped make our region a better place for all: Young and old, newcomers and natives. Our work is made possible through the enduring generosity of donors—from teachers and taxi drivers to Rockefellers. Nearly a century after we were founded, The Trust continues to produce a signature brand of philanthropy that is patient, strategic, and effective.

Kick off the Halloween season in stride!👟 On October 25, join The Trust for the Friends of Kensico Cemetery's annual 5K run/walk through their beautiful historic grounds. 🍂🍃 This is a special event bringing together community, celebrating the beauty of the season, and highlighting an important initiative.

Proceeds from the event will support the new Westchester Fund for Historic and Cultural Preservation, a new fund at The New York Community Trust.

This special Community Matters event at the Jacob Burns Film Center includes a screening of 9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero, which depicts the massive "Listening to the City" town hall that collectively shaped the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site.
