Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City is the nation’s first and NYC’s largest youth mentoring organization. WHO ARE WE?

Founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC (BBBS of NYC) is the nation’s first and the city's largest youth mentoring organization. Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. Our mission is to build and support mentoring relationships to ignite the biggest possible futures for youth. Our work is guided by our values: Put Youth First; Advance Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Operate with Integrity; Engage with Empathy; and Invest in Learning & Innovation. By matching a caring adult mentor, a Big, with a New York City youth, a Little, we are inspiring the next generation of leaders. Through our one-to-one mentoring, Workplace Mentoring Program (corporate engagement), affinity groups, College & Career Success Program, Bigs in Blue, and other community partner programs, BBBS of NYC serves over 5,300 youths annually across all five boroughs. 97% of our Littles are promoted to the next grade, and 93% of our Littles are accepted into college.

Back to school is better together!

As we wrap up our Back-to-School campaign with Macy’s, we’re celebrating the ways our local Macy’s partners showed up for BBBSNYC Littles this season.

Littles enjoyed a special breakfast and shopping experience at Macy’s in Queens, each receiving a $100 gift card to shop for the new school year. And at Macy’s Herald Square, the ONYX CRG led an employee donation drive that provided nearly 60 backpacks filled with school supplies, plus additional supplies for our Littles.

A BIG thank you to Macy's and its colleagues for helping our young people head into the school year feeling prepared, confident and supported with someone in their corner.

As summer comes to an end and students head back to class, BBBSNYC is reflecting on the incredible contributions of our summer interns.

Through our partnerships with Columbia University University and SUNY Binghamton University University, we had the opportunity to host five talented students as interns this summer.
 
Each intern contributed to the success of our organization and, most importantly, gained firsthand experience in what it takes to ignite the potential of NYC youth through mentoring.
 
We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to our mission over the past two months!

Our matches get to experience BIG moments! This weekend, Little Vennie aka Xander and Big David were gifted two tickets to Fanatics Fest, courtesy of our incredible partners at the NFL NFL Community . 🏈
 
Fanatics Fest is the world’s largest sports fan festival, bringing together athletes, leagues, teams, collectibles, interactive experiences, and passionate fans for an unforgettable weekend celebrating all things sports. This year’s event was even more exciting as the NBA Champion New York Knicks joined the celebration!
 
Vennie’s favorite part of the day was going head-to-head with his Big in the Dick’s Kids Zone, where they tackled activities like basketball, baseball, football, and the long jump. He also loved trying the NASCAR racing simulator and creating custom trading cards at the TikTok Shop booth.
 
We’re so grateful to the NFL for making opportunities like this possible and helping create memories our matches will never forget.

From July 14 through August 31, Macy’s customers can make a difference by rounding up their in-store purchase or donating online at macys.com. Every contribution helps support young people to head back to school feeling supported, confident, and ready to succeed. 💚

Our National Conference took place nearly a month ago in Atlanta, and Oscar, our College and Career Success Scholar, was there for all the action!
 
Over four incredible days, Oscar was inspired by keynote speakers, connected with fellow Bigs, Littles, and Scholars from across the country, and built lasting relationships.

As we celebrate Pride, Adrienne reflects on creating a safe and inclusive space for her Little: “With my Little, it’s actually incredibly easy because she’s one of the most authentic kids I’ve ever met. From the day we were matched, Azalea has been unapologetically herself, and I’ve learned so much from the way she creates inclusive spaces for others.
 
We’ve shared meaningful experiences together, from visiting the Stonewall National Monument to attending Bronx Pride, and we’re excited to join BBBS at Harlem Pride this month.”
