Ending factory farming. Ending animal cruelty.
๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“๐ŸŸ

Compassion in World Farming was founded over 40 years ago in 1967 by a British farmer who became horrified by the development of modern, intensive factory farming. Today we campaign peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices around the world. We believe that the biggest cause of cruelty on the planet deserves a focused, specialized approach โ€“ so we only work on farm animal welfare. Join us in the fight to end factory farming!

Factory farming isn't just cruel to animals โ€” it's systematically destroying our planet. From massive deforestation for feed crops to polluting our waterways and driving climate change, it's a major force pushing Earth to its limits. Our planet can't sustain this. ๐Ÿ’” ๐ŸŒŽ

Globally, the egg industry brutally kills approximately 7 billion male chicks every year, often just hours after they hatch.
But here's the hopeful part: we have the power to change this. Every compassionate choice we make helps build a kinder world where every life is valued.๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿฃ

Ahead of Ban Live Exports international awareness day, more than 130 charities, celebrities and experts from 33 countries have joined our call for a global ban on live exports, including Alan Cu***ng, Brian Cox, and Seth Watkins.

In an open letter to World Organisation for Animal Health, the coalition condemned the appalling conditions animals suffer in transit, including overcrowding, extreme heat, hunger, dehydration, injury and severe stress.

These grueling journeys by land or sea can last weeks, and even months. They also risk the spread of zoonotic disease, across borders.

This is despite developments in the trade of meat, carcasses and genetic materials - which make live animal transport obsolete.

The coalition also called on chief veterinary officers in WOAHโ€™s 183 Member States to put animal welfare at the forefront of the upcoming revision of live transit guidelines and ultimately,

Our U.S. Executive Director Matthew Dominguez to The New Lede:
โ€œRick Berman and his allies continue to create front groups that masquerade as public-interest organizations while spending their resources attacking highly respected charities working to improve the lives of animals."

If you see an opinion editorial or letter to the editor praising the Save Our Bacon Act, you may want to double-check who wrote it and if the author has any ties to the pork industry.

Several newspapers across farming states have run strikingly similar opinion columns over the past month that take issue with a California animal welfare law. The columns, however, do not mention that the author works for an industry-linked public relations firm.

This we need your help to stop the worldโ€™s first octopus farm.

Octopuses are carnivorous, so feeding them in captivity would take thousands of tons of wild-caught fish from our already depleted oceans, every year.

This would be disastrous for marine life and the coastal communities who rely on these fish for food and livelihoods.

Despite this, still plans to farm octopuses in Gran Canaria.

Protecting the oceans means protecting the animals who call them home. We must and .

Take our quick action to urge the Port Authority to close the octopus farm file โžก๏ธhttps://action.ciwf.org.uk/page/191409/action/1

๐ŸŽ‰ PORTLAND JUST BANNED FOIE GRAS. ๐ŸŽ‰

After years of organizing - protests, outreach, lobbying - Portland city council voted to prohibit the sale of foie gras. This is a huge victory.

Foie gras is produced by forcing thick, foot-long tubes down the throats of ducks and geese three times a day until their livers become diseased. 81% of Portland residents supported banning it, and weโ€™re grateful city council listened.

Huge thanks to co-sponsors Mitch Green, Jamie Dunphy, Tiffany Koyama Lane, and Angelita Morillo for their leadership, and to the 650+ people who submitted written testimony. Thank you to the Pro-Animal Oregon activists who never gave up.

The two largest foie gras producers in the United States, Hudson Valley Foie Gras La Belle are watching their market crumble. These farms have spent years fighting bans in court and lobbying against legislation, but itโ€™s not going to work. They may as well give up now. With campaigns active in Washington DC and Denver, the industry is running out of places to sell their diseased torture-products, and thatโ€™s an existential threat.

Portland joins New York City, Pittsburgh, and Brookline, MA in saying: not here. But weโ€™re just getting started. Denver voters will have the opportunity to go foie-gras-free in November, and weโ€™re trying to get it on the ballot in DC as well. Since DC is the third largest consumer of foie gras in the US, that would be devastating to the industry.

If you want to help us end force feeding in DC and Denver, please donate to Pro-Animal Future today. All monthly donations will be matched until the end of 2026. Link in bio.
