THE INCEPTION OF THE RISE OF BROKEN WOMEN
The Rise of Broken Women (RBW) was in response to a calling I felt when I was living in a Drop-In Center for two years. I have seen the many ways in which the system has failed to meet the needs of homeless women.
The RBW builds the self-esteem of women currently facing injustices in the shelter system and motivates them to advocate and demand more for themselves rather than waiting for them to phase of the system out before reaching out a hand to help them.
The organization, the Rise of Broken Women, therefore, consists of mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, survivors, leaders, and academics who share stories of triumph and loss. Sharing our experiences bridges large gaps between our worlds while building trust and cultivating an incredible image of what women are capable and deserving.
Your contributions to leadership, counseling, finance, storytelling, and more can help the organization spread knowledge about the specific issues facing homeless women and encourage them to get the help they desperately need.
