Tomorrow, Saturday October 10th
Open Door Shabbat at 10:00am
Book Club following Kiddush at 12pm

Join the ACI community once a month for a no-experience-necessary Shabbat service, where we will explore the structure and meaning behind the prayer service.

Shabbat morning is the best time for Jews to come together, and the WORST time to feel out of place in synagogue.

-Structure of a prayer experience
-Meaning behind key Jewish prayers
-How to sing when you don’t know Hebrew

Don’t know Hebrew? No problem!

Skeptical about religion? We’d love to have you!

Haven’t gone to synagogue since your Bar Mitzvah? You’re perfect!

Dance With Us for Simchat Torah!

6:00pm: Kids' program with Rabbi Josh

We hope to repeat last year's big hit, too: unrolling an entire Torah scroll around the room so everyone can see it up close. Bring the whole family!

Join for book club! Come on Saturday, October 10th, 2026

Come for Open Door Shabbat, and then stay for book club following Kiddush.

This gives people another week to read the book if you would like to join us. We will discuss I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. You can purchase it from The Strand or Amazon, or request it from Queens Public Library. It is also available as a six-hour audiobook.

It is a relatively short read/listen at just 208 pages.

See you next week!

Support ACI’s Kol Nidre Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to this year’s Kol Nidre Appeal. Your generosity helps sustain the Astoria Center of Israel as we begin our second century of Jewish life in Western Queens.

As we celebrate our Centennial, we’re reminded that ACI is more than a historic building—it’s a living Jewish community, sustained by generations of people who pray, learn, celebrate, volunteer, and connect here.

This year, your gift can make twice the impact!

A generous donor will match every Kol Nidre Appeal contribution dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000.
$100 → $200
$250 → $500
$500 → $1,000

Your support helps provide worship, education, cultural programming, community celebrations, acts of chesed, and the care of our historic home.

If you haven’t contributed yet, please consider making a gift today. Every donation matters—and every gift can go twice as far.

Donate online: https://astoriacenter.easyshul.com/form/6a9df1176c9cce0026585905

Checks payable to Astoria Center of Israel may also be mailed or delivered to the synagogue office.

Thank you for helping carry the spirit of our Centennial into ACI’s next 100 years—and ensuring that ACI remains a welcoming home for Jewish life and community for generations to come.
