TUMBAGA is now a domestic Not-For Profit Corporation authorized by the NYS Department of State Division Corporation since February 06, 2015. Mission Statement:
The Mission of TUMBAGA is to showcase Colombian heritage and folklore through music and dance in New York City, by promoting it within the different cultures and motivating young people and adults to be productive in society and being positive role models. We seek to preserve, teach, promote and exhibit the splendor of the Colombian dance traditions in New York State. Goals:
Our goal is to maintain a permanent studio open to the most vulnerable groups and students who demonstrate passion and interest in dance. Helping them to be part of our extracurricular activities,, motivating them to stay away from the temptations of the street and leisure, supporting them in their desire to be true professionals and continue their studies whatever their dream of succeeding is in our society. Objetives:
Having our dance studio open to our community. Providing classes with the main topics of the Colombian and Latin Dance Culture. Performing in various scenarios and promoting our roots , and proudly showcasing our heritage as part of the cultural fusion of New York City. Second: Expand our programs to young people who really need it. Have an open dance home which develops a professional dance environment to our students. Perform in theaters and different activities of the city, showing the dance roots of the rich Colombian culture. Expand our positive message on how to use dance as a discipline tool to live fully, with physical and mental health. Without the need of street placebos that do not allow the integral growth of the human being.
