One Fair Wage

One Fair Wage We’re fighting for a full, fair wage for all.

When the CEO takes home $30 million and the worker serving your food can't afford the groceries on the shelf behind them, that's not just inequality. That's a choice. A deliberate, policy-driven choice.

The Living Wage for All Act isn't just about a number. It's about ending a system that was designed to keep workers struggling while the people at the top keep winning.

Watched our parents lose everything. Buried in student debt. Called entitled for wanting to survive. And somehow we're the problem?

Pay workers what they're worth. It's that simple.

Councilmember Julie Menin says she fights for women.

Tipped restaurant workers — overwhelmingly women — make $11.35/hr in New York. They depend on tips from customers to make rent. Which is why the restaurant industry has the highest rates of sexual harassment of any industry in America.

Menin owns a restaurant. She represents one of the wealthiest districts in the city. She wants outdoor dining permanent. She doesn't want the workers paid fairly.

If you actually fight for women, fight for the women serving food on the sidewalks of your district.

Amend the bill. End the subminimum wage.

Councilmember Lincoln Restler just got a raise.
A tipped worker serving on a sidewalk in his district makes $11.35/hr.

He's the face of the outdoor dining bill — the one that gives restaurants permanent access to public sidewalks. Their seating doubles. Their profits double. The workers stay frozen at a 1991 wage.

You ran as a progressive. You ran as a fighter for working people. This is the test.
Amend the bill. No public space for poverty pay.

7 states have eliminated the tipped subminimum wage.

Their restaurants are open.
Their servers are paid.
The sky did not fall.

Richard Rodriguez breaks down what the data actually shows and why the "it will destroy restaurants" argument already lost.

"Get a better job."

That's what they tell the server who can't make rent, the cashier skipping meals, or the home health aide working two shifts back to back.

Nobody tells the billionaire profiting off all three to do better.

It's time to stop blaming the worker for a system designed to keep them behind.

"No one gets left behind."

Kavitha Iyengar of UAW Region 6 said what every worker in this country needs to hear.

The Living Wage for All campaign is building the coalition to make that a reality. Because when one worker is left behind, we're all left behind.

Our very own Richard Rodriguez speaks with WTTW on how tipped workers are finally seeing benefits from wage changes. 👏🏾

The NRA froze the tipped minimum wage at $2.13/hr in 1996.

Your tip isn't a bonus for your server.
It's legally counted as part of their wage paid by you, not their employer. 35 years of $2.13/hr.

Read the full breakdown:

The federal tipped wage remains stuck at $2.13, leaving workers dependent on tips while recent tax breaks fail to help the lowest earners.

NYC, we're talking to you! 🗣️

Council Member Lincoln Restler ran as a progressive. Julie Menin built her career on women's rights. Both are championing a bill to make outdoor dining permanent in New York City, giving restaurants permanent access to public sidewalks.

Neither has moved to require the full minimum wage for the tipped workers who will serve on those sidewalks.

A Councilmember in NYC makes $148,000/year. A tipped worker serving food on a NYC sidewalk makes $11.35/hr. A wage frozen, in real terms, since 1991.

The bill can be amended with workers being paid.

Tag them. Comment on their posts. Make this impossible to ignore.
