✨ Meet the Cast: Sebastián Villarini-Vélez ✨

For , every performance begins with connection.

“I tend to feel my family whenever I step on stage. I have their birth dates tattooed on my ribs, which makes me feel like I carry them with me whenever I go.”

Working with BalletCollective has deepened that sense of connection. “In BC, making dance enhances the perspective of both parties, turning our time in the studio into a true collaborative process…the chemistry between the artists is just as important as the skill level of each one of us. ”

Sebastián brings his artistry and spirit to Echoes of the Unseen, premiering next week at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Meet the Collectives: Vol. 3

When choreographer , composer , and poet Carey McHugh first created “Natural History”, they couldn’t have known how much the world, and their work, would change. Conceived at the dawn of the pandemic, the piece is a meditation on the arts’ enduring power to persist and inspire—despite all odds.

In 5 days, “Natural History” returns to the stage, asking: How do we remember what it feels like to move, to create, to begin again?

Meet the Collectives: Vol. 2

Every BalletCollective work is, in the words of choreographer , “a world of its own.”

For “Oracle,” Chloe Crenshaw, composer 7038634357 (), and visual artist created a world suspended between love, tragedy, surrender, and time. What emerged is a meditation on vulnerability and transformation, an exploration of how imperceptibly small forces can resonate with unthinkably large effects.

Experience the world premiere of “Oracle” October 28–31 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Tickets are selling fast. Available starting at $25 → balletcollective.com/tickets (link in bio).

Meet the Collectives: Vol. 1

At BalletCollective, each new work begins with a conversation between artists, ideas, and unseen forces that shape creation itself.

For “The Magnitude of Verticality”, choreographer composer Nicky Sohn (), and visual artist built a cycle of trust, inspiration, and exchange, each voice expanding the others. Their collaboration explores gravity, connection, and the unseen threads that bind movement, sound, and art-making into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Together, they remind us that true creation is never solitary—it’s an echo that grows through shared imagination.

Experience their work come to life October 28–31 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Tickets from $25 → balletcollective.com/tickets (link in bio).

✨ Meet the Cast: D’Angelo Castro ✨

For , the Echoes of the Unseen in dance live in the spaces between:  the quiet moments where connection and creation take root.

“What makes BalletCollective so unique is not just the steps we learn, but how we bring our different worlds and unseen realities into the studio. When all of that converges, it doesn’t just create a ballet—it creates a collective vision that’s richer and more human than any one person could craft alone,” D’angelo reflects.

See D’angelo bring this collaborative vision to life in BalletCollective’s Fall Season: Echoes of The Unseen.
