Citizens For The Arts

Citizens For The Arts Citizens for the Arts is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. The group serves artists from around the world creating a global network of artists. Mr.

Citizens for the Arts is inspired by the foundations created by The Antagonist Art Movement. Located in New York City’s East Village, and a community staple since 2000, the group consisted of a network of artists, musicians, and writers that would come together to celebrate one another’s talents and provoke each other’s creative potential. Since its inception the group has grown exponentially. As

such, CFA has adapted these foundations, adding initiatives to foster domestic and international cultural exchange. The primary focus is to provide projects that enable learning opportunities, job opportunities, teaching and leadership skills, growth and support in other artistic ventures in each member’s respective communities. Nine days left to catch this one. 🚇🎨

This week’s art tour takes us to Studio 6 on Rivington Street in the Lower East Side for Subway Creatures—a fast-moving, open call exhibition where artists had just 4–5 days to submit their work. If it fit the theme and size requirements, it made the cut. The result is a raw, immediate snapshot of NYC’s underground energy—gritty, strange, and alive.

Swing through before it’s gone.

The 82nd edition of the Whitney Biennial is now on view at the Whitney Museum of American Art—bringing together 56 artists, duos, and collectives in a powerful reflection on what it means to make “American” art today.

Spanning voices from across the U.S. and beyond—from Afghanistan to Vietnam—the exhibition explores everything from identity and ecology to technology, mythology, and global connection. Rather than offering answers, this Biennial invites us to sit with the mood of the moment—where difference, tension, and unexpected alliances shape the present.

On view now—including a billboard installation across from the museum on Gansevoort Street.

Tonight at Howl Happening on the Bowery—an intimate and electric book launch for Wasteland by visual artist Scooter LaForge and poet/writer Jason Haaf.

Signed copies, original works from the book on view, and a powerful live reading by Jason brought the pages to life. A true meeting of image and word in the heart of downtown.

Last night in Chelsea, we stopped by Gotham Dispensary for a playful and unexpected show by Betty Rubble 🍔🧱

Using rocks, concrete, and bricks as her canvas, Betty transforms everyday materials into hyper-realistic food objects—blurring the line between what’s edible and what’s built to last. The result is a fun, surreal twist on still life that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
