Projects move more effectively when teams have a clear understanding of what success actually looks like. Without that alignment, teams can unintentionally optimize for speed, cost, or scope in ways that don’t fully support the owner’s priorities. Lean teams work to define value early and revisit it often so decisions stay connected to the outcomes that matter most.

Generating value is not about assumptions — it’s about creating shared clarity that guides better collaboration and better project delivery throughout the process.

What’s one practice your team uses to better understand and align around owner value early in a project?

Lean practice gets stronger when it's local.

LCI's Communities of Practice (CoPs) are locally led groups that reflect the real design and construction environment in your region, while staying connected to a broader network of practitioners across the country.

Whether you're new to Lean or have been practicing for years, there's room for you in the conversation!

Curious what your local community is up to?

Every project has a schedule. But not every schedule becomes a tool the team actually uses.

For LCI corporate member Erik Hercek, P.E. of BD Engineering, pull planning works because it keeps work visible, makes adjustments easier, and creates shared accountability across the team. Sometimes the most effective systems are the ones everyone can interact with every day.

What planning approach has made the biggest difference for your team? 👇

Great design is never a solo act.

The 2026 LCI Design & Engineering Design Awards recognize the architects, engineers, owners, and constructors who come together to deliver exceptional projects through Lean methods.

These aren't individual awards; they're a celebration of what collaborative project delivery makes possible.

Winners will be honored at LCI Congress this October 12-16 in Atlanta, GA.

đź“… Nominations close at midnight ET, June 25. Don't let your team's work go unrecognized!

🎉 ALSO OPEN: Nominations for the 2026 LCI Pioneer Award
For the first time, LCI corporate members now have the opportunity to nominate an individual for the prestigious Pioneer Award, honoring leaders whose contributions have helped advance Lean thinking, tools, and practice across the design and construction industry. Passed the Knowledge Assessment but feeling stuck on your portfolio?

You're not alone. Many certification candidates know the Lean work they've done, but struggle to translate that experience into a strong Capabilities Assessment submission.

Sign up for Ready, Set, Showcase: Prep for Capability Assessment Success to learn how to select project examples, organize artifacts, and build portfolio responses with greater clarity and confidence.

LCI Congress is more than a conference. It’s a community.

For Stephanie Roldan, Senior Vice President, People at Rosendin, the most powerful part of LCI Congress is the network of people committed to improving how we work together, especially across trade partner teams.

It’s where the Lean community comes together to share practical tools, strengthen project outcomes, build momentum, and continue creating a culture of respect.

🗓️ Make plans to join us in Atlanta October 12-16 for five days of learning, connection, and practical ideas you can bring back to your projects and teams!

The metrics teams choose to track often shape what gets prioritized day to day. When visibility is limited to lagging outcomes, problems are usually discovered after the impact is already felt. Lean teams use transparency and visual management to create shared awareness earlier, helping teams make better decisions in real time.

Good metrics don’t just measure performance — they help guide behaviors that support stronger project outcomes.

What’s one metric or visual management practice that has helped your team make better day-to-day decisions?
