Young Life - New York City

Young Life - New York City Young Life NYC invites kids to find their purpose by following Christ, cares for them regardless of their response, and changes lives in the process.

Young Life and The 59 Development Plan

New York City has 59 community districts and the vision for Young Life is two-fold: First, to place a caring adult staff person within each community-district in NYC who will create/produce a model ministry in a specified neighborhood. Secondly, the district development approach creates an inroad to additional neighborhoods within that community-district. Th

e District Development Plan facilitates a process of creating metro areas and future regions. This is a way to grow strategically, intelligently, and prayerfully. Our goal is to operate in 29 Community-districts and doubling the number of kids impacted by 2016. New Community Development
Our plan is to maximize our growth trend by developing 20 new community-districts and beginning 35 new neighborhood ministries over the next 5 years; building the ministry to 6,000 kids impacted, sending 2000 kids to camp, and training 250 volunteers. In order to reach our goal we’ll need to raise $3,000,000 over the next 5 years.

Beleive in Me NYC

2002 was the launch of our current ministry efforts in NYC. There are over one million teenagers living in the five boroughs. Our message to each of those teens is that we believe in them. We believe we will reach all 59 community districts in New York City by 2029. We are currently in 22 Community Districts with plans to expand into 15 new districts over the next three years as part of our campaign.

Ministry development on Long Island has been an area of focus mission-wide for over 30 years. Nassau and Suffolk County are home to 125 public school districts with a teenage population over 375,000. Our goal is to be deeply rooted in each of the 12 townships across Nassau and Suffolk County by 2029.

Young Life is committed to reaching every type of kid including middle school (Wyldlife), high school, and college-age students (Young Life College). We also have specialized programs for kids with disabilities (Capernaum), as well as teen moms (YoungLives).

Our plan includes the combination of intentional community partnerships, an emphasis on indigenous leadership development, and a neighborhood-by-neighborhood growth plan.
